I know that over his three or so seasons with Wigan Athletic, Roberto has had more than his far share of critics and detractors. Whether that be over his signings or his tactics, but the one thing that no one can criticise is has been his dedication to the creation of the Wigan Athletic family. Over the past few months and leading up to the FA Cup final I have never seen or heard so much praise from both our supporters or the general football public. Fair enough, we may now see a slight fall off in numbers now that we are destined for the Championship, we probably will be better off without some of these so called supporters. What we have now got, thanks to Roberto is a football community in Wigan that will, no doubt go from strength to strength, certainly with such a young fan base.
I for one would like to express my thanks to Roberto for everything he has done for my club, I fervently hope he stays to continue the good work he has done for my town of Wigan, but if he does decide to leave, he certainly goes with my thanks and best wishes.

If he does decide to move on then the next guy in will have a near impossible task to sort.

Half the team will no doubt be gone,

rebuild a side in the matter of weeks on a low budget,

and the best part of 60 odd games and 2 games a week for half a season.

The EUFA Cup sounds good on paper ” EUROPEAN TOUR” all that but how many will actually travel to all the places ?. I would have preferred a qualifying round match with one game home/away, a great away day trip then concentrate on getting back up.

The only way we stand a chance if Bobby stops and convinces players to give it one season, If bobby leaves I feel a mass exodus will take place.

We’ll start the season with a backlog , I’m told the first game in the Championship lands the same week as the charity shield , I might be wrong though.

        Amen.

Roberto has been a fantastic manager for us, no other manager we could have appointed instead of him when Brucey left could have achieved what he has. Roberto has also done it with a refreshing approach and philosophy more appropriate of the big club he wanted us to become.

I hope this isn’t the end for Martinez, although he could leave now to a bigger club with his head held high, I think he’ll want to stay and bring us back up. I don’t think he’ll want to leave the club lower than he found it (as a manager), like you say he’s more than just a football manager, he’s also a Wigan Athletic fan.

        Sin Miedo!
