Barnsley have activated the buy clause with a figure agreed, just personal terms to sort.
3 January 2017 at 9:01 pm #153715Wonder why they are signing him. Not rated by Latics and some of our fans. They don’t think he is good enough to help us out of the mire.
Barnsley must rate him good enough as he as been a big part of their pretty decent season.
What does a player have to be, to be rated by Latics and some of our fans?
This isn’t the first time this has happened.
It happened quite a few times two years ago.
Forshaw, Delort, Riera to name three.
I hope he opens his mouth and says something because it’s the only way we will find anything out.3 January 2017 at 9:23 pm #153717Wonder why they are signing him. Not rated by Latics and some of our fans. They don’t think he is good enough to help us out of the mire.

I hope he opens his mouth and says something because it’s the only way we will find anything out.Nowt to do with us fans we were never allowed to see what he could do in the Championship the only part we have played is by letting ourselves get Brainwashed too easily and accepting a bad managers decision to let him and others leave. I personally would have liked to see how last seasons side would have performed at a higher level. At least they should have had a few games to prove it one way or another.
3 January 2017 at 9:41 pm #153718With the momentum behind them who knows how we would have faired.

3 January 2017 at 11:08 pm #153725What I meant is how do others see something in players that we don’t. Also we have had these players for so short a period and didn’t rate them so how come we rated them emough a few months earlier when we signed them?
3 January 2017 at 11:18 pm #153726Delort is that shit, his club paid 8 Million Euros for him, so they must have seen something in him.
Eleven part games for us was hardly enough to fully judge his capabilities.3 January 2017 at 11:26 pm #153728Does everyone remember the magnificent goals Aghahowa scored in Youtube videos.
Sometimes players fit into teams. Sometimes they don’t.
It’s the way things are.4 January 2017 at 12:00 am #153729I tend to give the manager and coaches at the club the benefit of the doubt when making decisions on letting players go. They see them day in day out, they are privy to players performances during real game training. They see if they fit into the style of play the manager wants to play. They are better placed to see which players in the squad fill particular positions better than other squad members.
We are entitled to our opinion but base them on watching players once a week [many on here don’t even see them live weekly and that’s not a criticism], on watching you-tube videos, on seeing them playing in other teams and leagues and making judgments based on what could have been.
In addition to the above, we make comments following a defeat or string of poor performances. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve walked off grounds saying that I’m going to no more away games, yet within a couple of days I’m on line getting tickets.
WJ may have wanted to keep Morsy, who knows but in this instance it was out of his hands.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!4 January 2017 at 12:43 am #153731Some very good points there JR. I remember Springfield as a lad and all the Owd men leaving having a meltdown screaming that they’re never going again then two days later were there for an Ashworths Trophy game against Skem Utd on a freezing Monday night in February.
4 January 2017 at 12:50 am #153732Do you know I don’t give a chuff who goes and who doesn’t.
I don’t give a gnat’s whatsit when away fans sing about empty seats, ground being too big etc.
I really don’t.
I come to the games, and Dieu willing will do so for many years to come with my son and grandson.
And if there’s half a dozen of us in the North west Counties I don’t care.4 January 2017 at 12:51 am #153733I tend to give the manager and coaches at the club the benefit of the doubt when making decisions on letting players go. Sorry jr marrer but it was the said manager and coaches who last season had us playing a more offensive style had Will Grigg scoring for fun full of confidence and had us enjoying our football. In summer all changed Morsey and Colclough were shipped out we went to a more defensive tactic and instead of letting last seasons momentum and confidence take us through the first few games of the new season the squad was overhauled to excess. If they see so much on the training pitch then how come they cant get it right on match days?. I feel it is unfair to lay blame for this season on the players when all the major disastrous decisions have been off field cock ups. It is funny how we can watch the same games and have so varied opinions but to me the manager and coaches are the root of all our problems. If Grigg goes we will see just how good he is in a more balanced set up than we have here. Chelsea are the perfect example of good coaching/bad coaching, last season Mourinho lost it and they were shite. Conte has basically the same players yet this season they look like world beaters. If we cant get it right off the pitch we will never get it sorted on it.

I see where you coming from NL, but I strongly suspect WG on current ratings will not get the chance of playing under a “better” coach. He will more than likely go back to league one or be a bench warmer with someone like Sheff Wednesday. :(

He will certainly be a Div 1 player if he stays next season unfortunately.
4 January 2017 at 12:52 pm #153737Most of his goals last season were scored from within the box. This season he seems to be played anywhere else but in the box.
