This is a typical reaction by fans to a player who leaves to join another club and I’m probably included in this.

If he stays, he is a great prospect who can get you at the edge of your seat with his trickery and pace. The scoop trick gets a great roar of anticipation from the crowd, he can beat players with ease.

If he goes, he is a one trick pony who can’t put a good cross in, can’t pass or make the right decision when the goal is at his mercy.

Just seen his stats for last season on SSN and it looks pretty impressive.

The lad IMHO is already a better than average premier league winger who might end up being something special in the next 2-3 years.

That my friends is why Chelsea have finally decided to pay the reported £7m up front with add ons up to £9m.
Who do you think does their scouting, Stevie Wonder?

      From Matlock to ManU
      What a journey!

Most people said the same about him last season. You only have to watch the Arsenal game to see how poor his decision making/finishing is. He should have had a pon full.

We’ve got £9 million for a player who isn’t worth £9 million, in my opinion.

He’s full of tricks, and can look very good. But his final ball is woeful. I don’t think he’s as good as is believed by either his agent, or himself. Has he earned his move? No, not in my mind. Antonio Valencia actually earned his move. Palacios earned his move as well, as did Heskey really. They put in a full shift, where as in Moses case, as others have stated, he could appear lazy, almost a little bit dare I say, aloof?

There is another side to this as well. I’m not sure when the next African Nations is, but as he’s elected to represent Nigeria, Moses will no doubt be jetting off to play in that, so he’s be missing for at least a few weeks towards back end of the season anyway, be it this season or next.

So in my mind, it’s good business. However I cannot see Roberto being given the full £9 million to spend on a replacement. Personally, I would be straight in for Matt Phillips, and possibly Tom Ince as well. Be bold. Offer them a deal for both.

Not always JR. Everyone clearly recognised Everton had got a great signing in Baines, likewise United in Valencia, Spurs in Palacios, and even Villa when they signed both N’Zogbia and Heskey.

Moses isn’t a one-trick pony, he’s a show pony; he has all the tricks and flicks that make him look a blinder on Match Of The Day, but for every bit of brilliance he shows, there are another half dozen times that he elects to dribble and loses the ball instead of passing, or he ambles back, uninterested, allowing his opposite number free rein.

Diame also has a bag of tricks, and was guilty of much the same as Moses at times. But look how the team played without him in the starting eleven: sometimes a more functional player who is willing to play for the team and stick to tactics is a much better option as was proven with McCarthur.

In all honestly I would have liked Moses to stay, but I’m not overly concerned that he’s gone as I think this will signal the appearance of our young Japanese loanee, who, by all accounts is a team player, and shows intelligence – which is something Moses is severely lacking in.

As for Chelsea’s scouting system – who knows how they draw up their shortlist? They’ve had a shocking array of duffers and young lads who have arrive in amidst a fanfare and then been offloaded three years down the line.

Good luck Victor, but I think you’re a silly boy who’ll end up leaving Chelsea in a sulk with very little playing time under your belt.

Exactly – I hadn’t been able to put it into words, but that’s it.

MAtch of the Day (unless it’s Alan Hansen lamenting someone’s poor defence) only focusses on the positives – what someone does. It doesn’t zoom the camera in on him walking slowly around, or not putting a jog on to try and get the ball in midfield.

We, who can see the whole of the pitch, week in week out, can see that. And get frustrated by it. Good luck to him. I believe Chelsea reserves are in the new Elite Development League. He’ll develop well there. Perhaps.

He might sulk, but he’ll be 4 times richer as apparently he is going to quadruple his wages.

With the chance of injury, drop in form etc, some players decide to take their big chance when it comes along. I think he has just decided to cash his chips in due to the uncertain nature of football.

He did a job for us and probably helped keep us up, and we turned a profit on him. I’m not going to judge him for furthering himself and sometimes you have to take a chance, maybe this is his.

Over the summer I’ve read some absolute twaddle being spouted by the Chelsea bloggers and on their forums about Moses being the winger they need; a Valencia type of player who can whip crosses in, so they could then offload the ball-greedy Sturridge.

I actually commented on a piece written for CFC.net saying that Moses was not a Valencia type of player as crossing was not part of his game; they deleted my comment. So, unperturbed, I asked via Twitter why they’d deleted my comment, to which they replied they hadn’t, and then blocked me so I couldn’t respond!

It just goes to show sort of distorted impression you can get by watching highlights as opposed to full games eh? But what would we know? We’re just an insignificant boil on the bum of the Premier League and we should be grateful to be allowed to breathe the same air as the likes of Chelsea.

I honestly think Victor is going to Chelsea way too early in his career. How many young players have Chelsea had who have broken into the first team and kept their place there? It’s not the way Chelsea do things. They prefer to buy established superstars and unfortunately Victor isn’t one yet.

Had he gone to Arsenal or United, then I’d have said it was a good move as they’d develop him and he would be involved more. But, other than City, I honestly don’t think he could have made a worse decision.

If it is purely a financial decision, then yes, it’s a great move for him if he wants to fill his bank account quickly.

But if it’s for footballing reasons however, then it’s a shocker: Man City aside, any other club in the Premier League would have been a better move in terms of his development. Unless there’s been a sudden shift of focus into the development of young players at Chelsea, then I think he’s just going to be making up numbers.

He did help us stay up, but so did N’Zogbia the season before, and I’m sure someone else will be there to help keep us up this time round. I’m not expecting loyalty from him, but if a player is willing to risk becoming another Winston Bogarde where football is purely a job, then I think we’re better off without him.

I don’t begrudge him bettering himself, but I think he has just bettered himself financially and his game will suffer, and, I doubt any of the decision making was Victor’s. By all accounts the lad rarely speaks and follows his agent’s advice to the letter of the law.

Retired Fan has used Match Of The day as a yard stick for years. I latched onto it a few years ago. Every player the media portrays as (world class) is portrayed the same by the flock of sheep fans who don ‘t really know anything. Just like all the United fans saying how Kagawa was such a good signing when i bet 90% had never seen him play. The list of players like that is endless. I will use Charlie Adam as a marker. I saw all the media hype around him when he was being linked away last year and all of a sudden he was on the ball all the time on Match Of The Day coverage, scoring free kicks and pundits praising him. I then watched 3 live Blackpool games after that and all that time on the ball on Match Of The Day was the actual amount of time he had on the ball the whole games practically. Yes he scored some good free kicks but i can name 10 players off the top of my head who had a good free kick but were crap players. Got his move anyway and the media moved on to someone else, Now he is being touted away from Anfield, Like so many ‘BIG’ players before him.

Charlie Adam would be much better at a club like ourselves. Less pressure, and more scope to be a key player.

Liverpool fans think they have the divine right to sign world class superstars, just because the’ve won the European cup a few times. (They’ve won it 5 times, y’know!)

I had a snoop on their forum just before, and already they are slating Joe Allen. After one game. Have to say though, they looked absolute garbage last night V Hearts. Wish we had them next week, put it that way.

Not bothered at all that Moses has gone – bar those goals at the end of the season how much of a job did he REALLY do for us?

Yes he may flourish like Valencia in a better squad, but somehow I doubt it.

Am also liking the fact that we now have a more balanced, level team with no single individual being touted as our star player, but many who could grow into that role…fingers crossed that one of them is Boselli.
