Luckily I missed the Canvey island game, so my most embarrassing defeat as to be Mansfield putting 6 past us at Springfield Park. Puts recent results into perspective.
So whats your most embarrassing (football) defeat?
28 August 2009 at 2:24 am #7089Purely for the fact that it was the FA cup, Canvey Island takes some beating.
That, and every point we drop against Liverpool
28 August 2009 at 2:53 am #7096Plenty i can think of but Canvey is up there at the top
28 August 2009 at 3:08 am #7097Tuesday night was bad, but being the Carling Cup 2nd Rd, it will soon be forgotten.
Canvey Island takes the honours as most embarrassing.28 August 2009 at 12:34 pm #7124Agree Canvey Island but look what happened after that in was onwards and upwards, gossip has it that Whelan went into the drssing room after that game and told all the senior pro’s that Jewell was the man and they could all f*** off.On talk sport yesterday they aired the interview with Ian Holloway who said his players listened to him ,but all the touchline instructions from Martinez were seemed to be ignored by Wigan players either they could not understand or prepared to ignore make your own conclusion, but is there a troublemaker in the camp?

Perhaops, now is the time for him to visit the dressing room again.
Knowing nothing about it at all, but if I had to pick a nigger* in the woodpile, I would point the finger at Scharner. Totally unfounded accusation of course, but that would be my guess if I had to pick one.
* can you still use that phrase?

In response, no you can’t unless you are of Afro-Caribbean origin yourself, and/or fluent in jive* (*circa 1980 – see the movie ‘Airplane’ for working examples)
Would agree that Scharner may be the bad apple, but we also have a never-been-happy-since- I-arrived Kapo, and happy-slapper King in camp.

Griff I don’t think that accusation is at all unfounded………didn’t anyone see Scharner at the Wolves game openly defy Roberto’s instructions from the touchline……………raising his arms and ‘shooing’ the instuctions away. He got a bl00dy gobfull from me the lazy pranuck.
We need someone else in to support Roberto (see my views on the “we’re going down” thread)…..someone to help play the ‘good cop/bad cop’ routine. Roberto remains the Mr Nice Guy whilst lazy playing staff get their harris’s kicked.

Holloways comments after wednesday sums it all up,the players need to shut up and listen to what the manager says. -
