0-0 at half-time was I think a good possibility for a positive result, but defensive frailties led to goals. Penalty shouts were to be expected from the home team and bench, and I think the visitors put up a strong performance.

Mind you, at £2 to get in I couldn’t complain.

Did I mention I went to watch Ashton Town in the FA Vase? Really enjoyable – as I didn’t go to Old Trafford and pay exhorbitant amounts of money some may view me as not a real supporter. But I was at least supporting a local team. And frankly, I don’t care what anyone else thinks anyway.

Key moment for me today though was when one of the opposition (a team from Rotherham) was absolutely clattered by an Ashton player. Probably one of the hardest tackles I’ve seen in a long time. Did he writhe around? Did he need treatment? No.

He got up and the captain of his team shouted to the rest “come on, lads, let’s ****ing give them the same back”.

Had we got a draw out of the game today (the one that mattered) or better, won, you wouldn’t
have posted this. Not sure what your point is.

I think his point is that, although he supports the Latics, he is not prepared to have his pants pulled down over the price of a football game, a view I wholeheartedly agree with, £45 to get in? Some people have less than that to survive each week, never mind hand over to a set of twats from America.
To compound his point, he then told us that he got his fix by watching a local team, for £2, and found it refreshing that the men, and I repeat men, that were playing were capable of taking a kick in the shins without rolling around as if shot, and all for about £99900 less a week than their overpaid and over rated counterparts that just so happen to be in the greed league.

The point is very obvious…….or not in some cases.

If some of you hate the game so much and are clearly not interested in our lads why dont you leave us alone and watch sub standard football every week also disgusting that some of you have to resort to foul language just no need on a public forum

John Doe summed the matter up perfectly, but I would add that had we (ie Latics) won then I would have posted the same message, but probably added something about the visitors well-earned victory etc etc.

And your perception of “the one that mattered” is open to debate.

Latics in reality never expected to get anything out of the game at Old Trafford – we hoped certainly, but no-one rational could have expected. For Ashton the possibility of another cup (vase) game was important to them financially. Unfortunately it didn’t happen. That doesn’t make it unimportant.

Did you enjoy your day at OT? It’s funny, for someone who banged on about going all week, you haven’t mentioned it since you got back.
