I thought we were very poor last night BUT it was only 1 game (or lets hope so). We were fantastic at Villa but I just hope last night was a one off and not the Villa performance.
If we play like that on Saturday we’ll be chasing shadows, if we play like we did at Villa we may get something from the game.
Last night:
Crowd was awful, ref was abysmal, our performance was worse!
Kirkland – 4 (Awful for their goal, no power on header)
Melchiot – 5
Bramble – 4
Scharner – 4 (Would have been a 2 but for a slight improvement in 2nd half)
Figueroa – 5
Thomas – 7 (Won some key tackles, never stopped for the full 90 mins and was my man of the match)
Brown – 4
N’Zogbia – 4
Gomez – 6 (Was marked very well by Wolves, given no time on ball and had 2 men on him every time he got it)
Koumas – 5 (Was slightly better than Zog but not good enough)
Rodallega – 4 (Looked lost, very poor but credit to Mancienne, he was immense!)Subs:
Scotland – 6 (A couple of decent runs, a decent cross with no-one on end of it and nearly scored)
Sinclair – 4 (Did he enter the pitch? He went missing – rubbish!)Roberto – 5 (I gave him a 10 at Villa Park but last night he had no plan B. He tried bringing on the extra striker but was still using the slow build up play from the back with less than 10 mins left when it hadn’t worked for the 80 mins before that).
Hope this was just a one off performance and judjing by that, we need a new centre back, centre mid, winger and striker.
Back to the Villa performance on Saturday please!
BTW, I booed at half time and left before full time. The reason for the boo’s was not directed at Roberto but at the players who are paid huge amounts of money to win football games and they put on the worse 1st half performance i’ve seen for a long time. My booing was aimed at the players to make them realise what we thought of their 1st half performance and I was hoping it would wake them up and start playing in the 2nd half but it didn’t happen. There were boo’s coming from all the stands (apart from the Wolves end) so it wasn’t just a small number. On my way back to my car after full time I heard the whistle, a loud cheer from the Wolves fans which was then drowned out by boo’s from the Wigan fans. I agree with the booing and just hope it makes Roberto and the players know what we thought of that particular game. My boo’s were also directed at the ref who was very poor. Bramble was lucky, from where I was stood (ES2) that looked a certain penalty! The ref was just awful on the whole, all in all, it was a dissapointing night!
19 August 2009 at 2:13 pm #5575Scott Sinclair only a 4 he nearly scored at the end of the match. He was very quickon the ball. I also thought ZOg deserves more thought he played better than most on the team.

We were awful last night but I don’t agree with booing! When things are going pair shaped we should get behind the team they ain’t going to play better if we crucify them every time they make a mistake.
I think we all agree footballers are over paid but thats not there fault if you were offered £25000 or more per week you’d take it, yes?

No……………. :shock:Of course I would but i’d do what i’ve gotta do to earn it!
No-one last night earned their wage although at Villa they deserved every penny.
If losing last night proves to be a good thing (the way we react from it) then all will be forgotten. I would have give that loss last night to beat Man Utd on Saturday so let’s see.
I booed hoping it would make the players realise how bad they were. I have been supporting Wigan since I was too young to say Wigan so I don’t need to make an excuse for booing but as stated, it was to try and encourage the team to re-think their performance. I’m sure Bobby and Jonesy will be having a word!
Roll on Saturday!
19 August 2009 at 5:16 pm #5630Never booed a tics team or player in my life owd bean get a grip sunshine
19 August 2009 at 5:18 pm #5631I think you’ll find booing doesn’t encourage anyone
19 August 2009 at 5:53 pm #5647A rather harsh judgement of Sinclair. He was playing immediately in front of me. He was consistently in space calling for the ball but the player with the ball all too often failed or refused to see him. We didn’t seem to want to play down the right.
