Chris Brereton, the guy that wrote this certainly is a N.O.B
http://www.fanhouse.co.uk/2011/02/17/wh … bs-the-fa/
“Well at least it wasn’t the worst crowd ever to watch top flight clubs in the Premier League. That is the only consolation that can be taken from the attendance at Wigan and Bolton’s fourth round replay on Wednesday.”
“A ticket at Wigan was “only” £15 but that was evidently too much for fans from both sides and what should have been a raucous Lancashire derby atmosphere was as flat as next month’s Pancake Day.”
Both of these especially the 2nd one have really got on my nerves.
Chris Brereton …. watch your back kid
:teasing-knob:17 February 2011 at 8:57 pm #59874He`s reet.
17 February 2011 at 9:30 pm #59875What you failed to put Seph was his headline – so I will post it for you
‘Why Should Wigan Fans Shell Out if Roberto Martinez Snubs the FA Cup?’
so in that respect I concur ‘he’s reet’

I got no problem with that, just the 2 quotes I posted are taking the p!$$ out of Wigan.
Ahhh well ………
17 February 2011 at 10:39 pm #59880i was disgusted last night with what i saw-there was a distinct lack of effort – the reserve team going through the motions, despite it costing the watching public £15 of money that could have been used towards paying some bills instead,
what i find TRULY AMAZING the announcement that the players are off to teneriffe today on a training camp,i have no problem with that in itself but a few questions arise from the trip.1) from the game ending last night at about 21.40 until about 10.30 this morning when it first became known they were going, did someone spend the period inbetween with the TV remote control scanning teletex to find an all inclusive job for a party of about 30.
2)did someone instead start doing it at about 9.00 am and have the same trip organised and players informed and press releases done by again the 10.30 ish point.
3)or was it already PRE-ORGANISED knowing full well that the outcome of the game had been pre determined with players and management.
4) If it is indeed my third point that is correct is it fair that wigan athletic football club or anyone else(media or opposing fans) expect wigan fans to turn up.17 February 2011 at 11:43 pm #59882It does leave a sour taste in the mouth and is fuel for the conspiracy theorists
Maybe as we are led to believe that employees of the club view this site – then they be offerred the chance to explain this situation
not holding too much hope on that happening to be honest
18 February 2011 at 12:08 am #59884When’s your next interview with Bobby Jayt … I have a question
18 February 2011 at 12:12 am #59886I can shed some light on this…
Unfortunately gents, as amusing as the conspiracy theories are, clubs always have either/ or options in place. If they didn’t have, they end up with a week of no football, with all the other clubs on either training camps or playing – and therefore stealing a march on them.
It’s not a case of someone at the club booking a package deal with Thomas Cook. The camp, transport, hotel and flight seats/ private charter will be held, and names are submitted at the last minute (they’re a football team, so they’re allowed to do things like that). If the first team don’t use the flights etc, the Reserves will, or even the Academy.
Nothing more sinister than that I’m afraid, and, a lot of these training camps are sponsored – as destinations like Tenerife and Cyprus are trying to compete with Dubai, La Manga, Portugal etc, so it will cost the club very little or fook all.
Tea Bag, ask your friends from Quay Radio about Pompey’s trips away in years gone by. All were planned for twelve month, but hurridly arranged at the last minute, and at least two (Portugal, Dubai) were fully sponsored.
18 February 2011 at 12:17 am #59888If I were Jordi Gomez I might of skied a free-kick and allowed them to get past the midfield if that ment I have a week in Tenerife.
18 February 2011 at 12:21 am #59889Quay Radio went down the pan when Pompey went bang – as they had financial interest in it !!
but I take your point – playing the devils do da

Didn’t know that. Haven’t spoken to anyone down there since Pompey went down. What’s Mr Wise up to now then?
Got an email from Alan (whose name shall not be mentioned in Wigan) the other week.
18 February 2011 at 1:28 am #59896LMB – you appear to have had an eppy over nothing.
The Tenerife trip is as bogus as the establishment of a Wigan Athletic Rational Thinking Supporters section – or WARTS as it will be henceforth known.

standish i knew along that what you say was the actual/probable answer to the question i asked – my problem with the whole thing is the management and players also know these facts and the players also would have known that in the general scheme of things the manager was not worried if we lost last night – and that is why the performance was so poor.
all we as fans want, win or loose, is some honest commitment to winning a football game.
when the players/manager treats us with a ‘why bust a gut when we dont want to progress and i will still get my considerable wages anyway’ atitude, it says the people of wigan who bother to turn up and pay hard earned money in the process can go and stuff themselves, and that is nothing short of a disgrace.that is what my problem is with football now in general, not a jolly in some sunnier clime for an bunch of mercenary nomarks, not one person in this whole corrupt, insular, self regulating gravy train, that is proffesional football gives a dam about ordinary fans, and i never ever thought i would include that about my own club.
some say that the club monitor this board i bloody well hope so.
18 February 2011 at 1:32 am #59898Tea bag – why would any sane representative of any organisation put their head above the parapet to attempt to have a reasoned debate with some of the ignorant, know-it-all no marks on this type of forum?

if as you say its a bogus trip – then repace anything i have said about tenerife with a week off – something prompted that display of non-commitment last night.
