…right, does anyone know anyone who can build an insulated garden building for approx £2000? I’ve seen some lovely ones in Dobbies Garden Centre, Southport way but they’re just too expensive (you’re looking at about £9,500 for the type and size I need).
Or would it be easier for me to just buy a large shed, reinforce the walls and floor (has to be weight-bearing) and insulate and double-glaze the lot?
I have a log cabin that I bought from Tiger Sheds ( online ) it is 10×8 with 28mm timber. I have got electric in there and when I have the electric log effect fire on in there in winter it remains very warm ! You can even get one with thicker timber ! Mine cost just short of £1,100 and that included delivery. It also has an overhang over the door ( Like a porch ) which keeps the rain off the entrance area. All in all a brilliant cabin for the money unfortunately for me my 2 year old son has taken over residence there with his rapidly growing dvd collection and his boxes of toys ! Oh well there is always the tv in the kitchen !!
Thanks everyone – it’s for my 19 yr old to crash in – at the mo he’s in the caravan on the drive but wants to sell it and buy a cabin. That’s why it has to be weight bearing – so it’ll fit his bed, wardrobe and his junk. filmoss, I’ll have a look at the website…and if any of you are good at DIY let me know!!! I make great cups of tea;)

It is probably best to pay a little extra and have them put the cabin up for you ( Had to word that right !!! ) I had my brother help but he is a joiner ! The after sales at Tiger are second to none as when my cabin arrived one of the windows had cracked in transit and they sent someone out straight away ! The guy who came commented that my cabin was the best one he had seen that had been done by the customer. He told me that if you didnt get the base right the rest would be off kilter and that the doors wouldn’t align etc so if you dont know a joiner / builder get them to do it ! I have slept in mine and it was fine !

No, a bit of a long and personal story and don’t want to discuss on here as too upsetting still, but there’s six of us in the family and only three bedrooms – he was living somewhere else a couple of years ago but because of what happened had to move back home. Unfortunately, no bedrooms left, so we bought a lovely 5 berth caravan, but he’s now decided that he wants a log cabin as he feels that the caravan isn’t ‘his’. Incidentally, if anyone wants to buy it – let me know;)

Oh sorry pal. How much you thinking for the caravan???
No…don’t apologise, hun. No worries. We’re all ok.
We need as much as poss as we want to put the money towards the cabin for him. We’re asking for £2000 – it’s a lovely little thing, neat and tidy – I’m just in the process of making some new curtains for it. It does have a few minor faults but considering its age (approx 15 years) it’s great. It doesn’t have any damp at all. I’ll be putting it on ebay in next couple of weeks when we’ve taken all his things out – it’s only been used to sleep in – well, so he tells me!!
