Only caught the last 10 minutes on wish on my way home from work, but rimmer reckons we are lacking in quality going forward & seem to have little ideas. Harsh or is this a true statement. Any response from those who went tonight would be welcome
23 September 2014 at 1:52 am #133551Not harsh in the slightest.
We were shite basically.Outplayed all over the park for 80 minutes.
A draw would have been lucky and undeserved and to let Sammon score sums it all up really.
Mid table cannon fodder by the looks of things.
23 September 2014 at 2:07 am #133552Absolutely crap…no ideas in the middle…..Delort didn’t get any great service so not fair to chastise him . Defence woeful, only McLean, Riera, and Waghorns introduction fired us up.Mid table is about it for me .
23 September 2014 at 2:15 am #133553Delort will not do anything unless he as someone at side of him and for midtable we will be lucky to get there boyce is having a nightmare how many times did ramis have to come over to cover him
23 September 2014 at 2:18 am #133554Spot on about Delort. …Young inexperienced player needs a partner to play off not strung out on his own .Wouldn’t Riera be ideal ?
23 September 2014 at 2:36 am #133558Delort with Riera, Fortune, Holt, Waghorn would be fine but two strikers is not the way at Latics anymore. That went out the window six years ago. Shame really it used to be great. Was Heskey and Camara the last true strike partnership? Can’t remember just got used to watching one up front crap.
23 September 2014 at 3:24 am #133564This one up front malarky has ruined many players at Wigan over the years, surely Rosler can see now we need to play two up front.
He played twoup front against Birmingham with Riera and MaManaman and we won 4-0.
For some reason tonight he reverted back to one up front and we were shite, probably worse than anything under Coyle for 80mins.
Once he put an extra striker on we started to look something like, and could have actually won it in the end with the chances we created. It would have been undeserved admittedly, but we could have snatched it.
Vier, vier, zwei as they say in Germany!!!
23 September 2014 at 3:34 am #133565According to the tv screens on the concourse they said we was lined up as 5-3-2 with maloney and boyce has wing backs which looked a bit weird

He ran his bollox off all over the pitch, even coming back to the half way line at times to try and get the ball forward.
At one point he ran out to the wing to win the ball, played it to Cowie, who played a lovely cross into the box where their four defenders cleared under pressure from Carson and the rest of the Latics strikeforce who were 90 yards away or on the substitute bench.Vier, vier, zwei.
23 September 2014 at 4:00 am #133570Bloody hell Horc was just saying like that was what was on the tv in the concourse jeysus
23 September 2014 at 4:06 am #133571Bloody hell Horc was just saying like that was what was on the tv in the concourse jeysusSorry mate, I wasn’t having a go at you, I was just trying to point out that it didn’t look like two up front. In hindsight perhaps I shouldn’t have used the quote box.
23 September 2014 at 4:11 am #133572Put it this way it had maloney has left back on the screen but it showed as 4 4 2 then said underneath that the tics where playing 5 3 2 :S :S :S

Macarthur was sorely missed last night. There was no bite at all from our midfield. Cowie is like the invisible man. Forshaw is a work in progress.Kvist looks OK (ish)
At the back Boycey is looking every inch of his 35 years and seems to be struggling.Kiernan I’m also still undecided about. He let Sammon outfight him last night for the 2nd.I feel sorry for Barnett as I thought he was one of our better defenders last season. And why play a right footer at left back when you bought 2 left backs in the summer??
23 September 2014 at 12:45 pm #133577Watched the game on TV as I live in Surrey. Thought we were poor for the first 70 minutes, couldn’t seem to string passes together, the off the ball positioning was terrible but all in all, we looked like a team who has had very little game time. Our defence isn’t good. I have no idea what Kienan was doing for the first goal, he should have been tight, instead, got pulled out of position with ease. The second goal, how can Sammon, who was knocked to the floor by Ramis get up, run past Ramis and score (through a lucky deflection of his arm)? Boycey has been a great servant, but it’s time for him to be on the bench and Perch, he has been in more positions than an illustration in a kama sutra book! Where are the left backs that we have?
On the positive side, the last 15 minutes were more like it. I thought Forshaw has the ability and will get better. I thought Kvist was decent and looked strong on the ball. How Riera is being kept out I don’t know, as is Waghorn…both looked strong when they came on…and backs up the argument of why would Rosler change the side from Birmingham. McLean was looking sharp which is good considering he hasn’t played this season.
I like Rosler and think he will turn this around but he should have realised after the 1st 45 minutes how Ipswich were setup, very strong in midfield and defence and hitting us on the break – Typical strong Mick Macarthy team. He should have switched to a more pressing 3-5-2 using Delort, Riera with Mclean and Waghorn supporting from the wing areas and Forshaw supporting through the middle, instead he stuck with 4-3-2-1 (because it wasn’t 4-3-3) which Ipswich contained comfortably. I think Rosler has changed too much too quickly and now is forcing game time for new players at the cost of losing matches.
…mind you, if we kept the new players out of the side, we would only be moaning about how they are not included (Just like we did under Martinez!)
