Everton legend Neville Southall says the club should forget about signing Joey Barton – because he is no better than Forrest Gump.
Boyhood Everton fan Barton, 30, has been linked with a move to Goodison Park and speculation increased after he cryptically Tweeted “once a blue…” last night.
But former Everton goalkeeper Southall believes Roberto Martinez should cross the QPR midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, off his list of transfer targets.
Southall said: “What is he going to add to Everton? I think they have already got a kitman.
“I don’t see how he will fit into Everton’s style of play. He isn’t the best passer in the world. Yes he is fit and runs up and down all day but Forrest Gump did that as well, didn’t he?
