little glimpse of the new kit on the website, looks like a reference to the three amigos kit
25 June 2018 at 3:26 pm #169809Of all the kits that Latics have had since I started to support them. That blue white & green monstrosity Puma produced was my least favourite of the lot.
Asides from the fact that it was made of an awful material that didn’t allow your body to breathe properly, what the feck did green stripes ever have to do with Wigan Athletic other than fitting in with the corporate colours of JJB??
At least with the demise of JJB people wearing it won’t look like shop assistants this time round
However, following a poll I saw on some Latics Facebook group it seems I’m in a minority as this was voted the favourite shirt
Oh & I hope that as Whelan’s selling the club that DW Fitness First are paying the going rate for sponsorship
25 June 2018 at 5:31 pm #169811Tyldesley, at the time when we had the 3 amigos kit, i was at wolverhampton uni. I went in to the wolverhampton jjb store one day wearing said kit. All the staff were wearing the same. The only difference, mine had a badge.
Firstly, I had all the staff wondering who i was.
Secondly, this guy comes in & with the thickest of black country accents, asking how much these trainers were. My reply in my thickest of wigan accents, “Do i look like i work here pal?” Then showed him the badge.
It was more funnier at the time of it happening.

The Addidas kits also with green were much better than the Puma 3 amigos one. Quality shirt made of good material. Funny enough I was never a huge fan of the said Puma effort which are on sale in the Grand Arcade as we speak.

Haven’t liked any of our kits with green as its not a Latics colour – at least not for a home kit. But you’re right the Adidas ones probably were the best made ones we’ve had.
The home shirt should be blue & white stripes or all blue with a bit of white – that’s what our club colours are, not feckin green
I’d also like to see the return of the yellow away kit25 June 2018 at 6:59 pm #169816Tyldesley, at the time when we had the 3 amigos kit, i was at wolverhampton uni. I got quite excited in the JJB in the middle of Manchester when i thought there was another Latics fan in.
Then I saw another, and another, and another before thinking FFS he’s just whacked a Latics badge on the JJB uniform
I did also get stopped by someone in Aberystwyth when I was a student back when that kit was out who approached me from behind to ask if a JJB had opened in townIt never felt comfortable when it was warm & the sizing was wrong – and before anyone says that’s my excuse for being a chubber & buying a bigger shirt a mate of mine who is much skinnier had to get 2 sizes up from his normal size
But yeah, green doesn;t belong on a Latics home shirt I’m afraid – Whether the club is going “Retro” or not
25 June 2018 at 7:44 pm #169817Don’t get the cloak and dagger thing, just show the feckin shirt, blue and white stripes for me, liked the one with the red trim a couple of seasons ago, wearing it as i speak on holiday in zante
25 June 2018 at 8:20 pm #169818Had the “have you got these in a nine?” thing myself.
Id hoped Puma would use the same template as they’ve done the Palace kit.. In blue and white it would look great.
I’m also sceptical about the new shirt sponsor DW Fitness First. Once again, an in house sponsorship.. I don’t believe Latics capitalise on outside sponsorships enough. Why do they constantly do this? And with Whelans on way out…. Why?Latics as a club, are no way exploring enough revenue avenues, compared to other local clubs. The stadium itself doesn’t bring enough in from non match days and with in-house sponsoring like that, it’s not good enough for me.
25 June 2018 at 8:35 pm #169819But is Whelan on his way Vat?
25 June 2018 at 9:39 pm #169820But is Whelan on his way Vat?Well, supposedly so.
We noticed towards the back end of the season, the DW Fitness First boards sprouting up around the stadium. The fact that we have basically self-sponsored for years, in various guises, has long been a bugbare of mine. We actually had an international sponsor back in the pre Whelan days with Heinz. I’d love us to get them back again. An internationally known and recognised brand name. Dare I suggest the reason it’s done is due to inland revenue reasons.
But surely we could get Garry Cook to find us an independent sponsor? For me, Whelans ways of doing things have hampered us bringing in outside revenue. I thought this might change with the takeover… There must be plenty of China/far east corporations we could bring on board. If we are doing the takeover, let’s give them the opportunity to source this kind of interest, and not do it half cocked.
If Whelans are going, let’s not get tied down with these in house deals. I don’t like it at all.

I’d also like to see the return of the yellow away kit[/quote]Prefer white away myself but yeah I could live with yellow as well. Not bloody black we have been obsessed with black for a few years and not red either. I’m also in the minority who thinks we should play in blue not stripes maybe coz I had been a fan long before we first played in stripes.
Back then it always seemed to be if you played in red you wore a white change strip and if you were blue the away colours were indeed yellow. It was all so simple then.
Worst kit ever seen, Coventry,s chocolate brown Talbot abortion.
26 June 2018 at 1:22 am #169822I also hated it but loved the yellow and blue away.
Quite a fan of black kits as well.

The classic Eamon O’keefe era 81/82 Kit is My favorite :)
26 June 2018 at 2:46 am #169825Probably the biggest deciding factor is the fit. The figure hugging style is ok for players but the average fan with slightly relaxed muscels in the abdomen area, its a big no no.
Blue shirts wth white trim, white shorts and blue socks with white trim is perfect. Green!! Whats that all about?27 June 2018 at 2:36 pm #169853Tyldesley, at the time when we had the 3 amigos kit, i was at wolverhampton uni. I went in to the wolverhampton jjb store one day wearing said kit.
