With regards new kits, are we the only club who change the identity of a kit every season? For instance, liverpool are all red. Yes, in the past, they have had pin stripes (80’s). United are red shirts, white shorts, black socks. Spurs always white tops, dark blue shorts, white socks. Man city always sky blue. Norwich – yellow shirts & socks, green shorts. And so on.
Blue & white are our predominant colours. But we are forever changing our design season after season. To me & I guess many others, we should be blue & white stripes, blue shorts & white socks – making this our identity. By all means give a kit a tweak here or there, but remain as the above.
6 July 2019 at 2:58 pm #179477Stripes are NOT our traditional colours. Since changing to blue and white we never used stripes until 1977- 1978. From then we have swapped between our traditional all blue shirts to stripes personally I prefer all blue. All white would be my choice for away but I have always had this notion that because of our brilliant history making us a “Roy of the Rovers” club it would be fitting if we played in yellow and red stripes away the colours of Melchester Rovers.
6 July 2019 at 3:15 pm #179478Indeed, stripes didn’t begin till we got in the football league (unless you count the ‘white braces’ we incorporated late 60s?)
Before the days of sponsors and all that fancy Dan stuff…..our kit was identical to the old Everton strip.
6 July 2019 at 3:58 pm #179479In fairness I only began supporting us from 1978. I have seen old photos of our “everton” kit, but blue & white stripes was what I grew up with.

7 July 2019 at 3:47 am #179488I just don’t get why we would want to look like Huddersfield or Brighton. I first saw us play in all blue with white trim so obviously I’m biased towards all blue shirts. I hated the original striped shirt so I’m not gonna change. I’m blue I’m true I’m Wigan Athletic and proud as fook at what my fabulous barmy club has achieved. In this town blue is true red is dead. And before you come on with a repost egg rugby union is now the number one ridiculous sport way ahead of your dying nonentity of a game.

Why the green stuff. Is this some corporate identity for Puma who supply the shirts.7 July 2019 at 3:28 pm #179492After seeing our new red kit in action yesterday, it looks pretty good to me, although it always helps when you see the team score 7.
7 July 2019 at 6:25 pm #179493I too thought the red strip look good yesterday with the complementary black band on the socks. It looked different to anything I’ve seen before although I have always been against us wearing red. Thank god we’ve dumped the yellow shirt that we couldn’t win one game wearing it last season.
