What a poor game the other night!! but one thing springs to mind ‘THE LACK OF FIGHT AND DESIRE!’

All the things wigan have stood for over the years, under Jewell we had bags of it even under Hutchings we had some, Under old big ed Bruce we has it, we fought, scrapped our way through games with the odd bit opf quality, we got blocks, tackles in putting bodies on the line pressed team we have done none of this all season.

I saw Paul Scharner shaking his head at Greame Jones during the game after Jones was passing on instructions – this shows me that the players dont wanna play for them, i hacve seen this on a number of occassions this season.

For me – and i have said this before – bring the greatest manager in our history back at least till the end of the season ‘Paul Jewell’ – keep us up and then re-assess averything, he is free avialable and i reckon he would love to come back, he would install some desire and fight back in us and hae us tearing up teams on this dire pitch we have!

We are just lucky there are some bad teams in this league this season or we would be adrift at the bottom, This manager seeems clueless and inexperienced and is the root of our problems!! Give us some fight back!! the one thing Wigan Athletic have stood for!!!

Paul Jewell back in for me and quick !!!!

Super Duper Ronny Atkinson – hes gonna come and save the day!! Or is he dead? Maybe they will sack Manuel and appoint Benson if they can get him out of his crypt.

If Paul jewell came in now I tell you exactly what would happen.
Results wouldn’t change one iota & he’d spend the next 3 months of the season publicly slating his players every week in post match press conferences, telling everybody he’d taken over a hopeless situation & it wasn’t his team & then he’d take us down

Which coincidentally is exactly what happened when he was brought in to save the day at Derby & he had a transfer window to help him then too

Sorry Atherton , but what a complete waste of cyber ink.

See if you can get your head around this revalation. Even if we do go down this season , which I don’t think we will , Bob STILL won’t get sacked. :o

And maybe Scharner was shaking his head at Jonesy because he’d just told him the next time Davies tries to elbow you , give him the Angus kiss.

The game against Bolton didnt have much in the way of quality football , the one thing that was on show was fight , Bolton are a big aggressive side and you have to be tough to match them , i thought we showed loads of fight on Wednesday , something which is improving under Martinez.
In the first half of the season we would have rolled over against Bolton and lost the game.
Now all we have to do is combine fight with quality !!! because we have shown both this season ( not at the same time i might add ) but when it does come together you get results ..Chelsea , Villa…

And this is the reason RM needs time to gel his players with his style.

I didn’t respond to this thread this morning when I saw it as I have been accused recently (unfairly, I believe) of picking and criticizing every single poster. So, I have been taking a more circumspect view and trying to play nicely. I therefore decided to leave this one alone. Plus, I was shaking my head so much my wobbling jowls were in danger of knocking me unconscious and I couldn’t type anyway.

But, as everyone else has jumped on the bandwagon… my addition to the thread would be related to Scharner. A report in this morning’s Mirror suggests he is off to Stoke when his contract expires in the summer so he is in a good position to play the cocky billy big-bollix. So, I wouldn’t set too much store by his reaction.

And Jewell? Like they say about sloppy seconds – never go back. He’s had his go, and he decided he had taken the club as far as he could which happened to be the very brink of relegation. Probably not what we need right now.

Is this the same Jewell, who quoted I have taken this club as far as I can, whose inspired prem league signings included the likes of Mellor, Thompson Agahowa Unsworth , whose plan B was to put De Zueew up front, when things were going wrong, yeah hes really the man, to get us out of this predicament, get real if he had come back before Bruce was appointed, we’d be playing fizzy pop football now, he’s a championship manager at best, club’s havent exactly been clamouring for his services, since his disastrous days at De rby he was a good manager for us Div 2, and the championship, then fair play to him, he realised managers like players find their level, and the premier league was to quote Madness One Step Beyond.
