29 October 2011 at 10:12 pm #72819Are you sure this post wasn’t meant to be submitted in the jokes thread?Well he is a better manager than Bob that is for sure and at least he has some passion unlike the unmoved one !!
29 October 2011 at 10:17 pm #72825Just because Martinez is jumping up and down on the sideline like Martin O’Neill or Stuart Pearce doesn’t mean he has no passion. He showed his passion by playing nearly 200 games for the club and turning down a move to Aston Villa in the summer.
29 October 2011 at 10:23 pm #72830Ask yourself why he really turned that job down ! You cant defend the indefensible duke tic toc tic toc ! The natives are getting restless and Bob, if he doesn’t resign is going to undo all that hard work and passion that he gave the club in his playing days ! If he has an ounce of love for this club he will do the honourable thing and walk before he becomes a hate figure !
29 October 2011 at 10:28 pm #72834I really do wonder why he turned it down. At a bigger club with better plays and more capital to spend, he could actually make his game plan work quite successfully. By turning it down he’s making himself look like a poorer manager than he is due to average players and little money to improve the squad.
Why would Martinez just walk away and let the fickle, ungrateful supporters that heckle him win? He’s got too much passion for that ;)
30 October 2011 at 12:25 am #72890after today’s game i was thinking someone on the lines of mark hughes, graeme souness, paul jewell ( ).

He knows deep down that he would more than likely fail there as well but with worse consequences than if he stayed here safe, knowing he is under no pressure of the sack and he has enough excuses to cover his back !

30 October 2011 at 1:23 am #72937Not me Tea Bag. I just can’t be bothered explaining or justifying my opinions on the manager’s on and off field merits.

From now on, I will be ritually and gratuitously abusing posters for no better reason than it amuses me

Hughes wouldn’t consider Wigan as he left Fulham for a ‘bigger’ club; Souness has failed in nearly every post he’s taken – and both the Blackburn and Newcastle supporters celebrated when he left; Jewell had one good half-season, then struggled at Derby after leaving Wigan.
If Martinez goes, don’t expect a big name coming in.

Hmm, that said, here’s an interesting option. Names dont come much bigger than this and he’s worth a fortune at scrabble.
