If Martinez keeps playing Scotland then i dont think he is going to be any good for us. Also i knew he would come out with the comment about the premiership is more important the the FA cup which is true but if thats the case then drop the price to a fiver for that match and if 15 quid is the lowest they can charge, give a voucher for a free match to use or give to a mate if you are a season ticket holder. I think Paul Jewell would be a good replacement until the end of the season at least.
Any thoughts?

Typical Wiganer…
Can’t think of anything more original than blaming one (admittedly mis-firing) striker for the league performances of a team with a defence easier to break through than John Terry’s boxers.
Your second thought – after exhausting your football knowledge – is about money; too tight to part with £15. Here’s good news for you, you won’t have to pay another penny for the FA cup this season.
Thoughts? Yes, I have a thought. I think you’re talking nonsense.

I’d disagree that Paul Jewell would be the man to keep us in the league, and I’m sure several thousand Derby County fans would agree with me.

Burnley, Portsmouth, and another team will keep us in the Premier League.
I get the feeling Jewell likes his cushy number on the Sky panel, anyway. I don’t blame him, really.
I really think we should hold on to Martinez, support him, and let’s see if he can build a dynasty to lead us on to more amazing times.
Remember, Jewell was given time when he had to cull a god awful squad. Roberto’s had about 6 months!

To be fair, what actually happened was that by around this time in his first season Jewell had started to turn things around & Latics form in the back end of the season was promotion/play off form & he was able to carry that on into the next season by cutting off the deadwood & bringing in a few more of his own players
So far Bobby doesn’t seem (IMO) to be turning things around although some of our new signings may yet be the catalyst for that
In Bobby’s defence though, Jewell didn’t have to deal with the transfer window & he was operating at a lower level of football where our financial clout spoke volumes4 February 2010 at 3:47 pm #21338You can tout as many names as you want but Whelan will never sack Bobby and he has already said it. My answer would be to bring in an old manager to work under him and teach him the ropes someone George Graham, esque who can teach him how to start from the back. Lets face it each and every one of us would love to see Bobby get it right so come on Dave get the lad some help.
