I think that we are one of those looking at a loan move for Beckham. He would be a good acquisition for us as he can pick a pass, something we don’t seem to be able to do at key points.
If it isn’t silly money, we should give it a shot.

4 January 2011 at 1:08 pm #54656More chance of me running out for Latics, and lets face it, I’m a cat funt!
Beckham has already said if he did go on a loan move to a premiership club, it would be a Southern club, due to a slightly warmer climate.
His grandad was a Spurs fan, he’s fron Chingford, and they are interested. I can see that happening.
4 January 2011 at 3:15 pm #54670I have never understood all the hype about Beckham. World’s Best Player  He wasn’t even Man Utd’s best player… Give me Paul Scholes anytime. Much better all round player.

4 January 2011 at 3:57 pm #54675Silly post, but how much sense would it make.
Whelan and Martinez need to somehow get the fans back on side and behind the team. He could do a fantastic job of sitting in the middle of the park and picking out pass after pass. He would get the crowds up, he would bring new found optimism to the club and give some of the younger players tips on technique. Not for one minute do I think it will happen and I know I am going to take stick for this but as Bob has said he would benefit any club in the premier league. Obviously it would never happen.
As for the comment on Scholes, I think he is one of the most underrated players of my generation at least, what a fantastic player.
4 January 2011 at 4:36 pm #54680He’d benefit any club purely on shirt sales and extra people through the turnstiles.
I personally don’t think he’s good enough for a team like Spurs, and if he does sign for them, who is he going to replace? Lennon, Huddlestone, Palacios, Modric or Bale?

Harry wants him as a ‘bit part’ player, someone to bring on and add something different, whilst also offering his experience to the younger players.
Spurs still have European commitments as well as domestic, so he’d add to their squad.

I read an interview with Redknapp the other morning and he said Beckham could do a job for them wide right because “all I have there is Aaron Lennon and David Bentley, and he keeps picking up injuries every Friday morning”.That’s Bentley’s card marked, I would say.
4 January 2011 at 5:06 pm #54688When he was at Pompey he joked in his press conference before the Braga game about signing Beckham. It was completely tongue in cheek, but got the tabloid journos doing cartwheels.
I’m still a bit dubious and to me it’s like when Man Utd sign a Chinese striker with no intention of ever using him other than to flog replica shirts in Beijing.
I might be wrong, but I can see his usefulness on the field being minimal, and I’m sure Spurs could get a much better player on a lot less money.
4 January 2011 at 6:55 pm #54695Going off what they said on Sky before, what actually happened was, Beckham was shopping in Harrods, and he bumped into Jamie Redknapp.
Naturally, they started to have a chat about this and that, and Redknapp said to him “Do you fancy going to Spurs?” and Beckham said something along the lines of “If it could be arranged, then yes, I would”.Jamie then got on the blower to his dad, who seems more than keen, and it’s gone on from there.
