Turns out the new owners are a dab hand at resurrecting failing businesses and also liquidating them if and when they fail to do so
6 October 2020 at 10:51 am #189664Can only hope they have best intentions.
6 October 2020 at 10:56 am #189666I hope they look after the club and welcome the supporters club with open arms because if the turd ever hits the fan it will be them picking up the pieces.
I’ve read more into the new owners and previous businesses dealings and I’ve mixed view’s6 October 2020 at 11:40 am #189667Maybe he has plans to maximise income from the ground once this pandemic is over.
I have always felt it was underused as an entertainment facility bar in the early years when the ground hosted minor international tournaments in both rugby and football.
This sort of thing ,Concerts and maybe an increase in leisure and corporate facilities might allow the ground to bring in much needed additional income.
Given what has taken place recently I do share your trepidation cup winners and really hope this is a good acquisition however changes to the set up and marketing of One of the main assetS I.e the ground are needed to gain the additional revenue that I don’t think has been realised by previous owners.
Can only hope they bring in supporters also because that is most cetainly the most valuable asset of all!6 October 2020 at 12:59 pm #189670Hope I am wrong but distinctly underwhelmed by this news.Feels like we are kicking the can down the road.
6 October 2020 at 1:23 pm #189671I hope this is wrong:-

Let the fun begin7 October 2020 at 5:23 pm #189676Looks like are Spanish friends are involved with Chris Farnell,
Let the fun beginI reckon its a load of bollocks pal, If he failed the EFL test a few weeks ago for Charlton and he is involved again then why would he bother? It would be another fail and a waste of his time.
Fuck the EFL
7 October 2020 at 5:30 pm #189679Both Choi and Way passed without a hitch both a front for the IEC.
The Wigan Athletic story is about to take another turn for the worst as the secret Spanish takeover faces a backlash from fans and the EFL. The clubs short lived Spanish takeover celebrations have come premature.
Begbies Traynor partner Paul Stanley said: “As we stated on September 30, the preferred bidder has made it plain that they do not wish for their details to be made public until such time as the sale is completed and we are respecting this anonymity. No further details will be released until EFL approval has been obtained.”
Whilst the administrators Begbies Traynor have reported the bidder wants to stay anonymous. It has been confirmed the Spanish bid was led by José Miguel Garrido Cristo. A source close to the deal claims papers were submitted to the EFL on Friday contrary to claims by Sun reporter Alan Nixon the EFL are yet to receive the documentation.
For fans wanting to know more about the future gatekeeper of the Latics. Garrido Cristo has previously led two Spanish clubs, Albacete and Castellón but was investigated for tax evasion and money laundering in 2016. It is believed that he has been in the North West of England after his company COSTA ESTE LONDON LIMITED was liquidated by Horsfields Insolvency Practitioners who are based in Bury, Manchester.
Sources understand Garrido Cristo is to be connected to Manchester based IPS law firm owner Chris Farnell. Former Wigan Athletic director Farnell (who was involved in the club in 2013) was also previously involved in the liquidation of Northern English club, Bury, and has a string of associations with other clubs including Charlton Athletic, who have suffered huge mismanagement.
Chris Farnell is said to be advised to go for the Latics by his long term client football manager Roberto Martinez. It is not clear what involvement Martinez wants to have with the League One club as he is currently the Belgium national team coach.
His alleged attempt to dupe the EFL was a tactic once tried by before, when a neighbour and friend of Farnell, Manchester business man Paul Elliot, was thought to be a convenient stooge for the sale of Charlton Athletic. The plan failed.
Sources say Farnell knows how to navigate the EFL rules and bringing in a Spanish front is all part of his master plan to be the clubs supremo.
Whilst the EFL puts procedures in place to protect itself from sports criminals and protect the interests of football clubs.
Helpless football fans will eagerly await to see if Farnell’s attempt to get his hands on the club will be successful as it could bring a whole host of unwanted unscrupulous vultures due to the failing FPP protecting our football institutes .
7 October 2020 at 5:34 pm #189680Read it pal. its bullshit!
Fuck the EFL
8 October 2020 at 12:07 pm #189681Spot on bullitt mate its total bullshit. We will hear all sorts of tripe over the next few weeks from trolls shit stirring and others who want to scupper the take over. This guy is experienced with owning clubs and knows the English leagues unlike that far Eastern mob who thought chasing the greed league money was a cinch. Cristo knows how to turn a club around and that’s what we need now.
