Watched a bit of La Liga last night and was impressed with a lad up front for Levante – Caicedo. He’s the Ecuadorian who was at City a season or so ago.
He is still a City player so is on loan with Levante. He’s quick, strong and can hold the ball up. He is also not afraid not shoot (he’s scored 7 in 12 appearances for them). When I saw him I thought, he would be a perfect for us.
We also like Ecuadorians at Wigan :D
10 January 2011 at 2:15 pm #55080I shouted this one last season, he would be ideal in a 4-4-2 however that won’t materialise, Jo is another one, his value is only 3m and has played the last 2 for the shop window. Here is a list of players i would want if we stayed up, Well a list of players i would like to go for if i was the chosen one –
GK – sign Al Habsi permanently and Alex Smithies
LB – Kyle Walker or Daniel Fox
RB – Micah Richards
CB – Woodgate and (or) Kilgannon
Mids – Andros Townsend (loan), Michael Johnson, Gabriel Obertan (loan) maybe permanent.
Strikers – Caicedo or Jo realistically Caicedo, Bellamy.so the team would look something like
———————–Al-Habsi—————————–
—-Richards—–Woodgate—–Alcaraz——-Walker—-
—-Obertan——Johnson——-Diame——Townsend—
—————–Caicedo——-Bellamy——————–
10 January 2011 at 2:25 pm #55081Yosser, although the side you have chosen is good, it’s not likely to happen. After January I would like our team to look like this:
GK: Al Habsi (Made permanent, I think it will happen. Bolton want to sign Wheater and our deal could help them raise funds.)
RB: Boyce
CB: Alcaraz
CB: Woodgate (Loan signing for the remainder of the season)
LB: Figeuroa
DM:Thomas
CM: McCarthy
RM: N’Zogbia
LM: Moses
AM: Cleverley
ST: RodallegaAs for Caicedo, he is average at best, he’s a big lad but not the kind of player I would want us to sign. I think we should look to sign a couple of the Espanyol team who we have been linked with. Callejon is a good player, He can play as a striker or just off the front man.
10 January 2011 at 2:36 pm #55082He wasn’t average from what I saw last night. As for Espanyol, do you really think any of their highly-rated players are going to sign for us?
They have been the surprise package this season and any of their young stars will be snapped up by La Liga’s bigger clubs.
10 January 2011 at 2:54 pm #55083I saw the game last night and he did play well but is he any improvement on Di Santo, Hugo or Moses… I would have to say no. Espanyol are in financial trouble and are openly looking to sell players. We have been linked with a few players from there team, it isn’t necessarily hard evidence but the Martinez links in Spain I hope would count for something.

I dunno, the only maybe’s there would be Richards and Bellamy, Wages e.t.c. Possibly Obertan depending on who United sign. A lot depends on how Moses recovers also. And that isnt for January thats if we stayed up. I think it would be a decent team, and british
10 January 2011 at 3:09 pm #55086I can’t see us doing much business at all.
If we do anything it will be signing Al Habsi permanently and getting a replacement in for Boselli and possibly ditching Cleverley for another loan signing.
I am very interested in what is going on with Boselli at the moment. It’s clear we’ll let him go, but who have we got lined up to replace him?
Before we got Moreno in we nearly signed Marco Ruben from Villareal and I see he is making an impact in their first team this season – scored against Real Madrid on Saturday.
I wonder which one of our 10,000 targets we monitor on a weekly basis is going to come in……
10 January 2011 at 4:33 pm #55090question is will whelan trust bob with his money
if there is any
after the boseli flop10 January 2011 at 4:37 pm #55091Very good point, but IMO he has to if he wants us to stay up this season. We need more of a goal threat,
I think he’ll give him one more chance to get us that striker who is capable of scoring……
