Barring a miracle with 14 games left it looks inevitably like we will be playing third tier football next season. The board have prepared for this already by tightening the purse strings despite us having further parachute money to come. If the loan players go and we release or sell our loaned out players what are the chances of the remaining squad making any impact on division one next season? Personal opinion is that this squad will have no impact on the top half and another year of struggle is stirring us in the face.
To think if one decent striker had have been invested in last season we could very well have been a Premier League side this season. Did anyone ever hear a rumour about Jordan Rhodes at the beginning of last season?as far as I’m concerned we got relegated yesterday afternoon and looking at the table now it is very clear that to stay up a team will need to hit about 48 points this season so we need to rattle in about 23 points to have a chance.
Does anybody still watching this team think that will happen?
the team is not good enough to sustain that kind of form and all we can hope for now is that we bugger up somebody’s season in some way because we WILl be in league 1 next season of that there is now doubt now.For me the rot started way back in September at Blackburn just after the international break when we capitulated after going a goal up from then on we played our games in a half hearted fashion and in no way to the standard required in this division.
if anyone thinks League 1 will be any different then they had better think again,our ground will be one of the better ones in that division and teams will come at us like they have done this season and with little or no investment in the team then another relegation could follow in 14 months time.We just had to win that game on Friday but after 20 minutes or so they looked and were the better side and no amount of effort was going to change that.
it was a realisation for me on Friday that we already have a league 1 team and a very poor one at that if you look at how good Preston were against Man Utd and the Bradford City side at Chelsea.
More struggle for me and another relegation is all I can see next season,very very sad,somebody convince me otherwise please!!The problem for me dates back to when whelan had the option of appointing either mclaren or coyle. He chose the latter, CHEAPER option & hence began our problems.
As for our current situation what concerns me is that NOBODY(im referring to the staff) at the club seems concerned about our fall. Im prepared for league one next season, as i believe are most fans, but think we will do better than what you vince think we will. Confidence is very low in this team. We start of well, then concede a goal & as a result – heads drop & the fight goes.
If we are to stay up – we have 14 cup finals, starting tuesday. If we want a champiinship team next season lets get behind the team – no booing, jeering, bemoaning etc.. Lets start getting behind them & who knows????????
Well one man could convince you, me and others. Many fans need re-assurance from him and to hear his views on where he has lead us to now. Not heard much at all from him lately. Seen the actions at the last window but the silence is still deafening.
The support for the team was superb on Friday night during the usual first 15 to 20 minutes. The fans were just so frustrated again with a pretty inept performance.
Whelan can’t comment yet as I don’t think his six week ban is up or its only just up. No doubt he’ll have somthing to say very soon
14 friendlies more like – get the young kids on eg Cosgrove, Robles etc can,t be any worse than the spineless no-marks taking the field at present.
