The next three games will determine Caldwells tenure at the club, if we are still bottom of the league after the Burton game and at least five more points on the board his time is up i’m afraid.

That will be 12 games in, can we really give him any more time? People are getting worried simple reason we don’t want deja vu from two seasons ago, we have a decent squad that are not deployed properly, or who knows the players may be a bit p***ed off with Caldwell.

If Caldwell does get his marching orders then the coaching staff should go as well if we are to change the manager then a clean slate is required this time one or two have got a bit too complacent of late.

Fingers crossed for a much needed 3 points on Tuesday.

That’s a great point if we get rid of him we need to get rid of the lot and let the new coach bring his own in.

Spinning it around, if he does get the 5 points and we about of the bottom three, then he loses the next three, what targets will be put on him then?

I am guessing ( ) that he is targeted on points and/or position at certain stages of the season anyway. Is it even a management problem?

Maybe moving to an underachieving Club’s training ground is rubbing off on us

Close season preparations a cock up. Start of season a cock up. Team selection and playing players out of position a cock up. Being so cautious a cock up but probably the biggest cock up of all would be sacking Gary and the instability that would bring. The lad just needs to look at things and reflect which he obviously will be doing and do something to correct the failings so far this season. If he doesn’t we will and he will be fooked and without parachute money like last season there won’t be a quick bounce back unless one of the richest men in the country who owns us regains that ambition and enthusiasm he once had.

Last season i for one actually thought we had a manager that knew his onions, he learned from his early season mistakes and got us on a good unbeaten run, now that was hard enough with a virtually brand new squad.

What does Caldwell do? Rips the squad apart that he built! Constant tinkering with the right back position and playing players out of position doesn’t help, GC said “we would sign three or four new players to add to the squad” then he more or less rips it apart thats not something we expected, it also gripes me when players out on loan are playing out of their skin and like yesterday Colclough bagging a hat trick.

So picking up points in the next three games is paramount then move on from there, i think with all the new signings Caldwell has confused himself.

I for one don’t want another season in League 1 with or without Caldwell and i reckon i speak for all posters on here on that one.

End it or mend it Sharpie!

Quite correct but unfortunately it will never happen marrer. Mr Whelan bought into the Bobby philosophy wholeheartedly and as long as some of Roberto,s footsoldiers remain at the club they will be fireproof. Coyle, Rosler and Malky should have had the option to bring their own staff with them so any new manager is going to have to work with the lads already here.

The ghost of Bobby still haunts the club

To be fair he’s had 3-4 players injured who would have filled the right back position, its not a case of intentionally tinkering, he’s been forced into it.

But he has had our own Burke available and plays him then drops him for an out of position player.
Perks even came on on Friday into the right back spot when he should have been on to replace McDonald in a sort of like for like. Instead Enoch came on and stifled Gomez’s game.

I’ll say it again…To be fair he’s had quite a few injuries to prevent him from having a settled right back.

Has the young right back Burke played well? he’s not done too bad TBF; his he the answer to the right back problem? not too sure having seen him play all his first team games live. A very steady season, but is easily dragged out of position.

Perkins came on Friday at right back in order to get the ball from the keeper and get it forward quicker. You need to look at the bigger picture boys instead of looking for negatives all the time.
Thought that ploy worked well for the last 10 – 15 mins, but hey, what do I know I’m the one who thinks we have had serious injuries at right back, more than we could wish for. :P

A quick answer to that, the quickest way for the keeper to get the ball up the field is kick the fucker up the park. Failing that a throw out to a deeper midfield player. Keeper should rarely be distributing the ball to any defender at 0-1 down or for that matter at any stage in the game unless it’s for wasting time. Sick to death of football that starts with passing from the back. It’s boring, it’s shit and as never worked at Latics.

Does it not? boo hooo, so you are telling me last season was just a dream?? :(

The easiest way to give the ball to the opposition is to hoof it from defence (or in this case the keeper), it has been shown and proven a million times.

It is far from boring or shit if it works out like it did last season and when we won the Worlds greatest Trophy. Therefore proving it has worked at Latics

1 down and heading towards another loss rolling it out hadn’t worked for 75 mins so change it maybe. Like the free kick we got 40 yards out with about 7 to go …….put it in the box ??? No ..not us….12 yrd sideways pass ….4 passes later lose possession.

Exactly. You see it in every league in the World. Sides need the ball when they are behind and not risking a 50/50.

Its any reason to moan for Wiganers at times.
