So Maloney has been informed next year’s budget will be slashed to a 3rd of its current spend.

Considering most of last year we did nothing bar loan out our players to slash the wage bill then replace those gone with cheaper and worse players I find it mind boggling.

This is the repercussions paying the likes of Brannigan just under £500k over 2 years who blew the budget out the water in L1 not the Championship. Then paying off Richardson’s near full contract (crazy signing), followed by Touré and his gang and all their full contracts paid up while the squad got very little investment let’s not forget it was mainly spent while we were in L1 by high flying Mr Brannigan who intern blew the lot in L1.
      .

This season is nothing like our time in L1 up to the Championship. We have around 18 all out of contract this year and I’d say another 4-6 ready for off so to say the squad is facing decimation is an understatement.

We will need to replace and sell 1 or 2 possibly Lang Pearce and bring in players that tend to be carrying injuries, old, crap, not arsed take your pick simply because any half decent player won’t play for peanuts plus they’ll have a few choices as to were they can go.

This is what happens when a club is been run like a Sunday car boot stall with little planning, structure or guidance.

The squad next year will foot the bill for the huge boardroom fcuk ups that have sent us down to cover managers and Boardman payoffs.

This ain’t me ranting about spend spend spend this is about, as owners who have held their hands up high but want the squad to suffer for “their” mistakes. If you make bad make good I say. You learn by your mistakes don’t make more

If they honestly think that by taking the wage bill down to a record low virtually pennies when we need to build a new squad is the answer then I’m afraid “Fcukup2 The Sequel” will be due for release later this year at the DW. I honestly think were in for at least 2 more managers this coming season and possibly another drop without some kind of investment (not slashing) to rectify the issues.

Our owners need to put their mistakes right not make it worse, because little or no investment comes with a price as we saw last season this will do more harm than good mark my words

If they pulled their friggin’ fingers out and got some sponsorship money in for the Stadium and the playing kits, and up the rent to the chubbies it would help the coffers.

After fifty five years watching the Latics (season ticket holder for the last 40 years), I’m seriously considering slashing my budget. I am in serious consideration as to whether or not I should renew my season ticket. My heart is with the Latics, but my head is saying why fork out my hard earned money for a club where ambition has gone out the window. Why should I turn out on those cold / wet winter days and nights knowing that survival is the only foreseeable goal, knowing that we have little hope of attracting players of a calibre equal to those of our glory years, knowing than any rising talent will be groomed with only cash in mind and not trophys, knowing that our squad will be full of “has beens” that have nothing to prove whilst they collect their pay cheque, knowing that the owners only pay “lip service” to the supporters real opinions & ideas.

Maybe, this is the face of modern football :-( :-( :-(

I’m in a similar boat, a season ticket holder since the early 80’s but I’ve nearly had my fill. I’ve always gone along to the games looking forward to it but I no longer feel that way, this year out of all of them has hit us hard thinking were on the up, and that owners have it at hand especially the friendly nature Talal showed to us I thought we e hit the jackpot.

I still cannot believe the owners think by slashing the running costs to bare minimum is the answer. The other thing, would they have mentioned some kids been used next season we have stopped up ?, No, but we’re lead to believe it would have happened.

Their young lads are coming in like they did when we went into administration out of pure and utter desperation save money and nothing else, its history repeating itself.

Yes I did scream from the rooftops for young lads to be used but I would have preferred :-
Investment into youth programs then in time build a good youth set up so we can nurture and integrate them into the side not zip lob, then have half a dozen unprepared young lads thrown in like lambs to the slaughter as Maloney has mentioned 6-7 will come in.

Then after Maloney’s report after Blackpool saying I will be ruthless he picks a team that none could beat me over 50m

I would like to see majority of the squad kicked out
Before I spend any money watching the tics
Of the present team only a couple worth keeping
Asgard Hughes only two I can think of
              Rest should be binned
And play the kids for a year or two lang spends more time on his arse
Looks like there will be little or no ambition for next couple of seasons
After the fiasco we have been through
So maybe it’s pick certain games and miss a few

It staggers belief why nothing has been done about this. Crazy, even non League clubs do this.

@bigroy “Bloody rubbish Maloney!”, Im not sure if that’s a dig or even a funny, fcukin lost me there. I never had a dig at him, I just hope he gets it so right but with the huge rebuild task I would have preferred an experienced manager.
I’m not sure Maloney even knows how big a job this will be with no money.

I truly hope he can sort this mess out and build a solid team/squad on pennies. I just think slashing the wage bill is the last thing we both need.
Yes trim the squad and make cutbacks but 2/3rds?. Fcuk me Wyke and Magennis will probably swallow a quarter of that.
I wonder if those who’ve a year left are asked to take a drop ?. Has anyone thought that if by some miracle and a blessing from above we did stay up what the owners will do then? slash or invest ?.

Makes you think that were probably best going down to rebuild.
