justice done at Stamford Bridge last night.Chelsea epitomise everything that is wrong with the modern game. From the 1st whistle to the last surrounding the referee en mass and vociferously contesting every decision. Worked a treat in getting Ibrahimovic wrongly red carded .Just glad the best team in both legs managed to rise above it and let football do the talking.Good on Souness for letting Chelsea have it with both barrels and not fearing Jose’s post match squealing.Without a doubt this kind of player influencing the refs decisions has always been a Mourinho frustrating trait.I just hope the condemnation Chelsea recieved last night will make the powers that be look again at this growing disease.

This comes on the back of Michael Oliver not buckling under the Old Trafford pressure and getting so many decisions correct that he actually got man of the match for me! Both Chelsea and Utd should be warned about their tactics that have in my opinion brought the game into disrepute!

I love Mourinho, but I can’t stand Chelsea for them reasons.

Dirty players, always at the refs, constantly diving. Horrible team.

Went to Chelsea when we got stuffed 8-0; last game of the season.
However that did not give a true reflection of the game. Chelsea had to win to secure the title; and the Latics had them on the ropes in the first half, until Frank fell over in the box with the nearest Latics player being a yard away. Before that incident we had a clear penalty shout waved away. Frank dispatches the penalty and you could see the Latics heads go down. The ref wasn’t going to spoil Chelsea’s parade. It pisses me off no end !!!!!!!!!

Cost me fifty quid for a seat to see an orchestrated game.

That’s why the Premier league is Shoite !

Ali, it’s like this at the top of most leagues. Real Madrid have lost 2 games on the bounce having just won a hat full and the manager is facing the sack and the likes of Ronaldo, Bale and others are suddenly unhappy with life. Madrid fans were waving white hankies against Schalke as a sign they have surrendered and a Chelsea fan on the radio today wants Mourinho sacked for last night. It is fookin laughable at the petulance football success at the top brings. Utd have always done it blaming everything from the ref to the colour of the kit and it gets every right minded fan’s backs up. It seems if your at the summit of your pyramid then dummy spitting is an integral part of the game.

It is called cheating and the officials are a bunch of gutless spineless cowards who will not do anything about it for fear of trial by the mass media. A wrong decision against Wigan, Burnley, Blackpool in the Premier Leaague goes unreported but the same decision against Manchester United and Chelsea etc makes the headline of every paper and scrutinised with a small tooth comb on Match of the Day.
Corrupt League system dictated to by a few big clubs and their mass media paymasters.

I also remember Latics playing United at the DW on the last game of the season with United needing to win to secure the title.
Latics were playing well, should have had a penalty when Ferdinand deliberately moved his arm toward the ball to block a shot (admittedly his arm was by his side but it was still a deliberate movement) & then Paul Scholes received a caution for one of his customary shocking tackles.
A matter of minutes later he committed another probably worse challenge & got away with a warning & United eventually went on to win 2-0 & secure the league.
To be fair the media were very critical of the ref but one things that sticks in my mind was an interview on the Monday on Talksport with a former top flight ref & he was asked about the decision not to issue a second caution to Scholes. I forget who the former ref was but he said that, in isolation, the challenge was worthy of a caution BUT he agreed with the decision not to send him off as refereeing is not just about referee the incidents it is about refereeing the occasion and in light of the significance of the game it was best to leave Scholes on
To this day the comment baffles me

He is probably referring to the adrenalin being high amongst the Utd players because of the occasion. I understand it, but it doesn’t make it right.

Passion is high in a Wigan Saints derby and you sometimes get tackles a little higher than a normal game that go unpunished or are not punished in the same way. Doesn’t mean you can get away with anything though like the Ben Flower incident for example.

Scholes should have been sent off regardless of the occasion.

Didn’t realise Latics v Southampton was a Derby match!

I recall Alvin Martin making a comment that although they were both bookable offences, the Ref made the right decision not to send Scholes off because ‘it would have spoiled the game’.
