Does anyone feel that following his injury, Nick has come back a shadow of the player we previously drooled over.

Whether Maloney coming back in and Waghorn a clear favourite with Uwe has undermined him.

Strange that both he and McEachran didn’t even make the bench last night.

In my humble opinion those two highlight everything thats wrong with english football.
Both been given too much too soon whilst achieving nothing.
Powell in particular thinks hes better than he actually is.
Give me a much maligned gary caldwells passion and commitment over the so called strutting show pony any day.

We haven’t any strikers. Powell has been played out of position all season – by both Coyle and Rosler – and seems to have played a forward role without complaint.

He was successful to start with, but isn’t at the moment. Something has changed. If Powell is arrogant now, well, he was before, so that hasn’t changed.

Perhaps Rosler has asked him to play differently, and he – deliberately or not – has not responded as Rosler wished. Perhaps he is still affected by his injury.

He has undoubtedly got great skill. If Uwe can get him to use it for us, that will give us a great advantage.

Rosler picked McEachran to play in the cup games against Manchester City and Arsenal. Again, he does have something to offer.

        Spot on Lowey !
These Johnny big Bollocks loan players are not really fighting for anything, since I can’t imagine them seeing their future at the Latics; even if we make the Premiership. Probably already on a beach in Marbella, in their head.

Are you suggesting that we shouldn’t sign any players on loan? That might put us at an even greater disadvantage.

Powell was a success when he arrived. Indeed, he offered a rare ray of hope during Coyle’s miserable reign. What has changed?

Not sure that is true. Their parent club will obviously be monitoring them and failure here could spell the end for them there.

For me, Powell has believed the hype around him and the stories of Utd playing him next year. Not as long as he has a hole in his ar$e will he make it there.

I thought it had been made public that Powell and McClean have been suspended for comments on twitter regarding playing time or lack of it. Apparently Shotton now back at Stoke, is also in the same boat.

It’s easy guys, if you want to increase playing time, then put some effort in when you get the chance, particularly Powell. He struts around like he is owed the right to do what he wants, bollucks to the rest of the team and Wigan Athletic.

The title of this post is 100% bob on!

Too right , too much too soon. I remember Stephen Ireland’s comments after leaving City. He said there were teenage lads turning up for training with £10,000 Rolex watches on even though they’d never played or trained with the first team.

If your paid daft money early were is the incentive ??

His reaction at Bolton summed it up for me ,no real passion just a Why the fuss? what do you ferkin expect from a Premier League top gun like me?
Avoid those loanees like the plague going into these play offs!

heard a story at the blackpool game that powell wasn’t injured at all and that he was out clubbing the night before a game so broke club rules. uwe wanted to fire him off back to utd but moyes told him that he had to deal with him himself so thats why he didn’t play. has a bad attitude apparantly.

I think everyone is over reacting about all this.
Powell is a talented young player and will more than likely go on to play for Man United regularly and possibly England.
However, something has gone a bit wrong as the season has progressed, whether that is because of his attitude only he, the team and Uwe know.
I think the fact the players around him have improved greatly and got a lot fitter has also had some bearing on things as he is not the stand out star he was earlier in the season.
Whether we use him in the play offs is up to Uwe, I personally would give the Wigan players their chance and use him as a substitute if needed, in the hope he can produce something special when needed like he did early in the season.

There’s a 16 year-old kid played in the FA Youth Cup final who is on £20k per week.

I don’t think he has ever seen a first team game let alone played in one ;)

Not suggesting we don’t use loans; but if we do they’ve got to “die for the cause”. I was basically intimating that some of them with egos / attitude don’t really give a toss whether the Latics win or not. So based on that criteria who is the best and worst loan players that have ever played for us ?

Zaki could be in the running for both categories

Best goal by a loan player…in front of the Kop at Liverpool.

Worst attitude to whether he actually turned up at all. What was it Bruce said…”the worst player I’ve ever worked with” or something similar

I will put forward a couple from the same season under Kenny Swain just for the comparison of their impact.
Keith Gillespie (first time around)..8 games and 4 goals in our worst ever team. He certainly stood out.
Peter Thorne…11 games and 0 goals as a striker. I seem to remember he had 2 disallowed goals at Walsall away.
