to the fans who travel tonight/Carabao trophy .. but .. I’d rather be out of both.. bigger issues to address imo
8 August 2023 at 10:17 pm #200654Very skillfully ‘lost ‘ .. well done .. one hurdle outta the way .. yippie
8 August 2023 at 10:25 pm #200655Just in car after game….good workout but glaringly obvious how lightweight we are in the middle. No biting,3 red cards a season tough guy to protect the likes of Smith. Passed the air out the ball for nearly no saves from their keeper. Good training session but I fear teams playing to stop us will manage to do so comfortably. Thought best team won….at least they were direct and created corners and goalscoring chances…..The Martinez keepy ball philosophy never sat with me……just hope we don’t follow that to the letter.
9 August 2023 at 7:53 am #200656I wouldn’t read to much into the game last night as a reflection of the squad and how things might pan out going forward.
I thought the intensity seen on Saturday was missing and some players seemed to treat it as a friendly in my opinion.
The EFL cup is now a non event , look at the attendances across the board last night and the prize of playing a premier league reserve team doesn’t hold much Sheen anymore.
The game on Saturday is much bigger as the sooner that points deduction is wiped away the better.
Certain they will strengthen a bit more as some of the younger players don’t look ready just yet but we have found an absolute gem in that goalkeeper Tickle which is a massive positive and a fantastic defender in Hughes.
Just pleased to emphasis being now back at pitch level rather than off it.
Loads to be upbeat about, up the tics.9 August 2023 at 8:34 am #200657Good post ….still believe a midfield enforcer is a must. Teams will physically bully us there and the young newbies will need someone to give them freedom to be creative. The 1st 11 look good but any long term injuries to the spine of the team and we will be in trouble. No to blame just thanks to the EFL’S biased embargo. Win Saturday is huge…….
9 August 2023 at 10:23 am #200658Power is going to be a big loss in the middle in League One which I think is he’s level.
It’s glaringly obvious we don’t have a battler in the middle to break things up. Smith tried but he always looked a yellow poss red was gonna come his way.The problem is our starting 11 and fringe players are no were near each other, there’s a huge gap in quality. I do like Luke Brennan though when he came on. Very very busy and keen to get forward.
We look ok for now but once the injuries and suspensions start to arrive I think we will struggle.
As for the Martinez style of football ?. Keeping the ball is great but as the commentators said we simply don’t get the ball into the last 3rd quick enough.
I’m not sure how many touches Morrison and Hughes had combined but it must have been as many as the rest of all the players (both sides) combined.
9 August 2023 at 3:16 pm #200662To my knowledge I’ve never seen him play, but I believe Liam Shaw was brought in to do that role, only he’s short of fitness at the moment apparently. I work with a Morecambe supporter and he reckons we’ll have one of the divisions best midfielders once he gets up to speed.
9 August 2023 at 10:03 pm #200669I bloody hate this passing for passings sake that’s polluted our national game. Should be a new rule saying the ball can only be passed forwards and a maximum of three passes per move.

Power is gonna be a big loss? You’re having a laugh, we don’t need a player that hardly makes a tackle and points to others to do the work he should be doing. When we played Stoke at home last season I told my mates to keep an eye on him and it was 58 minutes before he actually made a tackle on someone.
We won’t miss him one bit, apart from he had great delivery from set pieces. We didn’t score one goal from his long throws so glad to see the back of those. We have other players who can take free kicks and corners so, no, for me I was glad to see the back of him. He always gave 110% but was undropable even when playing Shyte. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!10 August 2023 at 6:43 am #200671Look I’m not getting into the Power debate as he’s gone but I don’t think he was as bad as some folk made out. There seem to be a hate club against him and it spread amongst our fans. It seemed to me it was only him getting stick when others were just as bad if not worse.
It was embarrassing at times listening folk screaming “Get the fcuk off the pitch Power your shit” when Shinnie couldn’t put 2 passes together and Fletcher wouldn’t hit a barn door with a beach all from 5 yards but neither got the abuse Power got from the stands. He was the only one with the balls to confront the fans at Blackpool.
Was he the world’s best player? hardly but he was experienced, and always was busy chasing and hounding and at League One level that’s something we lacked badly at Wrexham.I just hope we don’t fall into a 700 passes a game club because without a Power or a Naylor we’ll invite more pressure on the back four.
As for Brennan ?, I saw him at Morecambe and he stood out first half head and shoulders above the rest. Very busy, hounds and very hard to get by then on the break got away numourous times.
Could he be the answer moving him inside ?. He won’t be the first or the last to do it. Even John Stones has found a new lease of life moving into a holding midfield role.
10 August 2023 at 10:02 am #200673Your not getting into the Power debate then you write an essay. I would never shout out at a player at the game, its just not needed and shouldn’t happen.
I can fully understand the reasons behind why they felt the need to, he was a master at making himself look busy yet doing nothing. I had the same opinion about Tilt he was the worse man marker I have ever seen, yet fans where won over by one booming tackle.
I’ve always analysed games and looked at how we concede goals. The amount of times we conceded cos Max didn’t track his player back was ridiculous.
I presume you won’t reply to this cos you don’t want to get into a debate. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!10 August 2023 at 10:57 am #200677I hate to say I told you so JR but…..
10 August 2023 at 10:58 am #200678No, actually I fucking love to say I told you so.
10 August 2023 at 12:08 pm #200679Powers merits or lack of had nothing to do with the abuse he suffered at Blackpool. I was right there …just a group of wanna be Green Street bell ends u16s berating the whole team from their goal to final whistle. The language was shocking…….I’m surprised he didn’t jump over and launch the tossers……I’d have helped him !!!
10 August 2023 at 6:49 pm #200696No, actually I fucking love to say I told you so.
Yet he was part of the team that won league one when Sunlun scraped up via the play offs.
He did his job but then overstayed his welcome so no told you so there.
The remark you made was when he joined us from Sunlun. Since then he has a league one champions medal whilst the Sunlun players have fek aw.
Thought you had been feked off from this forum, you have never been and never will be welcome.
Get on your own chat you t*a*.From Matlock to ManU
