I don’t reckon that Rotherham will be docked any points for a couple of reasons.
1) Top barrister employed to fight their corner who will get their mitigating circumstances across to the panel. He must be costing them a fortune! It is also rather unnerving how the club have gone all North Koreaesque !
2) With Derby submitting their papers on the back of the verbal agreement to extend the lad’s loan, Rotherham will plead that their side of business was merely a clerical error due to it being Easter and who could argue that what with our little clerical error with the chocolate fireguard striker! I personally think it would be rather unfair in the circumstances to dock them 3 points! :(

A lot of these cases are simple clerical errors fil but most times the FA/League will still hand out appropriate punishment and in other cases precedence’s have been set already. I still feel they will wait in the hope that Rotherham will win enough points for it not to matter.
23 April 2015 at 12:29 am #141551Clerical error or not they fielded an ineligible player in a game they won 1-0.
Previous punishments handed out show that it doesn’t matter why the mistake was made just that it was made.regardless I think Latics won’t get the points needed in our remaining 2 games

Nothing to do with the bet! I just think that on the whole we don’t deserve to stay up and that Derby knew all about the loan extension and had submitted the appropriate paperwork! I would much prefer to stay up on merit rather than by default! I didn’t put the bet on to go laying it off, it was put on because I could see what was happening to our club and I thought that I might as well benefit from it and have a cushion to break the proverbial fall! To be honest I hope I lose it but somehow I just can’t really see that happening!
23 April 2015 at 2:27 am #141559The precedent is set now after the Wimbledon case last season. No matter what excuse Rotherham put forward, be it a clerical error or not, they have still played an unregistered player. It will be 3 points deduction and £5k-£10k fine suspended till next season.
As for saying we don’t deserve to stay up Fil, that beggars belief. Yes we have had a crap season, but there is no way we are in the bottom 3 worst teams in this division.
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve walked off grounds thinking we just haven’t deserved to lose that game.
They say a league table never lies, it might not, but fekin officials do make stupendous mistakes that cost sides vital points and IMO we have been the victim of these on too many occasions this season. :(Like others on here, I get the feeling you are feeling rather irritable that your bet may go down the swanny. Take a chill pill and see what transpires over the next 10 days. If it comes in, I for one wont be chuffed for you. :P

What part of ” Nothing to do with the bet” do you not understand? I wouldn’t like to use the words over confident or anything like that as it will be a sad day indeed when the hammer falls and I would rather stay up and lose the money so no I am not irritable at all! Now for you to say we are not a bottom 3 team you are right, we are a bottom 2 side and from what I have witnessed at home we are thoroughly deserving of that position! You are in denial lad! Oh and as for setting a precedent, the thing about that particular rule is that there isn’t any precedent, a decision in relation to a points deduction can be varied! We shall just have to wait and see, Millwall are still above us and have just as much a chance on Saturday as we have as Wolves kinda need 3 points yeah! ;)
23 April 2015 at 10:12 am #1415613 point deduction applied at start of next season.
23 April 2015 at 10:31 am #141562Is that a fact mighty?
I wouldnt be surprised, and doubt that any fine/points deduction would be significant..remember West Ham…Sheffield still ended up being cheated!.
23 April 2015 at 10:47 pm #1415673 point deduction applied at start of next season.Impossible, the error has been made this season and the season is still active. The FA have already said that a decision will be made before the end of this season, maybe tomorrow or early next week is my guess.
If the FA want to be kind to Rotherham, they should let them know the outcome ASAP, so that they know what they need to do in order to avoid relegation.
I just can’t see them letting Rotherham celebrate avoiding relegation on the last day of the season and then slapping the 3 points deduction on um meaning they go down on goal difference or summat. :woohoo:

You was doing OK there Fil until that glass half empty comment at the end. You have obviously not been watching the same games as me, there has been no stand out teams this season IMO , we have been as good, if not better, than at least 6 or 7 teams that we’ve got nowt from at home.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the standard of football this year has been shyte, its not just us. The gap from prem to championship is getting bigger, look at the teams who are fighting relegation from the top flight, its no coincidence that 3 of them are the promoted teams last season.I’m in denial egh? it is you who are in denial, having backed against the team you supposed to support. Not satisfied with that, you come on here boasting about the odds you’ve got.
Lets see how varied the points deduction are for playing an ineligible player. This is taken from the FA rule book.
(O) (i) Any team playing an unregistered or otherwise ineligible player or players may/shall
have the points gained in the match deducted from its total and may be fined and/or
otherwise dealt with at the discretion of the Management Committee. From Matlock to ManU

24 April 2015 at 3:58 pm #141578Putting money on the team I support to be relegated wasn’t a case of tempting providence, it was a case of me thinking ” Fucking Hell, this is shite and I really can’t see things improving under the circumstances, I think I will prepare myself for the inevitable and give myself a little windfall to cheer me up when it finally happens”
Again, I can’t emphasise how much I want the bet to lose but my contingency plan has been in place for several months now! Call me the forum’s soothsayer from now on! If we do drop down don’t be surprised if we go down again within 3 seasons! You heard it here first! ( Big winky/smiley thing! ) -
