On the subject of Bobby and formations, from an ENGLAND perspective what about the team below in formation indicated (as opposed to current 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1)
HART
JAGIELKA, LESCOTT, TERRY
JOHNSON (or MILNER), PARKER, GERARD, COLE
ROONEY
CARROLL(or YOUNG), WELBECK
Thoughts ??
Whilst understanding that its too late in the day to revert to such, feel that the above would make us much more offensive as an attacking force (Johnson and Cole – both defenders, able to bomb on (Cole started out career as LW; Johnson, better attacker than defender (!) with the odd decent goal in him) and less predictable as a team.
With Rooney, Welbeck and Carroll in the team, ability also to mix it up (in to feet, to head, etc.) and play more between the lines …
Would give the Germans something to think about (confidence… ;) )
Reinforcements – Defoe, Oxlade-C, Jones, Baines
