Its not a new thing. In about 1984, myself and Mr Ricketts decided to catch the Everton Supporters’ Coach to watch Sunderland play at Goodison on Boxing Day.
What we didnt realise was that we would be locked in at the end of the game for long enough to make us miss our coach home. We managed to get a bus to the outskirts of Liverpool, but then we were left with no option but to get on the railway line and walk back to Wigan, safe in the knowledge that we wouldnt get run over because no trains were running!
Fortunately I was the recipient of a new pair of trainers for Christmas!
