first 25min looked ok,after that well awfull two up front not good enough and need replacing
defence well not strong enough we need a new centre back
we did seem better when stam and gomez came on
and has for abzi how poor did he look
all in all with what we have relegation is nailed on unless scrooge unleashes the legendary war chest1 January 2013 at 9:40 pm #98826It was man u though lets be fair. …but normal service against them resumed. 7 wins from last 10 last season may have to be repeated .Just wonder what happened to the springboard those wins were supposed to create? .Bloody awful today and Al Habsi not in the best vein of form not helping. Saving grace I.m.o.Reading, qpr still look worse but only just !!!
1 January 2013 at 9:44 pm #98827Martinez “I was Happy with the players, We Were tired. 4 games in 11 days BLah Blah Blah” BOB… So has every other team.
SAME old excuses.. and diatribe which would take a Philadelphia lawyer to understand what he his saying.
I didn’t expect us to win today but that display was PATHETIC. No understanding in the defence. But Hey we’re still learning.. It’s only 3 years :S Did you see Di Santo running off the field when he was substituted? It was the fastest he had run all afternoon.
Keep running lad all the way to Liverpool. He ain’t as good a Jason Scotland.1 January 2013 at 9:48 pm #98828goodpost goodpost
1 January 2013 at 9:51 pm #98829To be fair it was Utd and they are by far the best team I’ve seen at the DW so far this season.
We did look more of a threat when Stam and Gomez came on but they were 3-0 up at the time. However I like Stam at right back with Boycey in the centre.
I’d be more concenrned if we’d performed like this at Villa but we played them off the park.
forget this one and let’s move on.
1 January 2013 at 9:59 pm #98830Yes, played the prems whipping boys off the park !!I didn’t expect us to win just try make a game of it ,which they didnt. As for Di Santo ,technically good but a luxury .He is a striker remember whose 1 goal every 10 games is poor return and looked completely disinterested today.
1 January 2013 at 10:09 pm #98831To be honest I would have more respect for Martinez, as a person, ( Still don’t think he is a good manager) If for once he came out and said “We were Rubbish Today but I’ll be sorting it out on the training field on Monday” Instead of making the same old lame excuses. i.e.Tired, Defensive Mistakes which we must cut out (but never do). There aren’t many other teams whose regular score against Manchester United has been 4-0.

There’s times when you just have to hold your hands up and admire world class finishing. goodpost
We matched united for big parts of today’s game and if that Kone “goal” would have stood, who knows how the game would have panned out.
We will stay in this league by beating clubs in the bottom half of the league not the top half, so wind your necks in.
Fergie has the luxury of being able to rest players and yet still put a top class team out, we can’t.
To imagine that any Wigan Athletic fans would be spitting dummies out after being beaten by Man United is quite laughable. :P

What a journey!1 January 2013 at 10:31 pm #98833I actually don’t think we played too badly today.
Don’t get me wrong we didn’t deserve to get anything from it but the 4 0 was a harsh scoreline.
Each goal we conceded today had a massive element of luck involved that all favoured united. Evra scuffed his first shot that dropped nicely for him to shoot. McArthur played the ball against Figs which dropped nicely for van persie. Third was a shite free kick that turned into a perfect half volley for Hernandez and fourth Beausejour decided to take Figs when he was free to clear it.
Yes there were some excellent finishes in there but my god they didn’t half get the rub of the green today.
1 January 2013 at 10:40 pm #98834I find it strange how we were on top for the first 20mins but still gave their keeper absolutely nothing to do ! I honestly cannot remember him having to make a single save during the whole game !
As for the beating clubs in the bottom half we have lost 4 won 4 and drawn 1 in the games against the current bottom half, hardly inspiring stuff ! I thought we were very bad today and the excuse of it being Utd should not be used to paper over some pretty ugly cracks that have started to appear of late !1 January 2013 at 10:56 pm #98835Martinez “I was Happy with the players, We Were tired. 4 games in 11 days BLah Blah Blah” BOB… So has every other team.

After 25 mins, United had a decent 5 min spell which culminated in their first goal, Wigan unable to relieve the pressure (watch the re-run of the first goal – if only Kone was able to get to the ball first, but no, United that determination /experience call it what you will, first in, before you know it into Evra (ball out from under his feet) etc. etc. 1-0.
The second a comedy of errors – three Wigan players on their arse in the passage of play leading to Van Persie’s first.
The third – poor pass from McCarthy cross field, United break, free-kick (expected RVP to score), 3-0.
The forth – Christ knows what happened there.
Had Kone’s goal stood, would have made for an interesting last 30 mins.
Surprising to see the Latics 11 suddenly find an extra spring in their step just after the Kone ‘goal’. McACarthy’s poor ball leading to 3-0
scoreline put the mockers on any improbable comeback. At least, my Utd mate had a decent day out, and Sharpy’s scampi and chips washed down with a pint of Guinness was just the job.
The rest (first 25 mins apart), absolute dross.
We didn’t half make life much easier for Utd than it ought to have been. Our own worst enemies (ring a bell ?)

From my seat I really didn’t think we lay down for utd. In fact, we took the game to them when 2 down only to be done on the break.
Did we have our belly tickled at Villa?, I’m having trouble finding your post after the 3 nil win at VP.
