I see that the ones that had us relegated after two games have not come back on to share their thoughts on us reaching 20 points for the half season.
Does anybody else think that this league could well have two or three teams going down with more than 40 points though?
Ok, you’ve asked for it, so here goes.
Don’t get a false sense of confidence. In the past 2 games we have won one and drawn one, and are still well and truly in the mire.
I will state here and now, as I have before, that APRIL will be our ‘make or break’ month. Home to Spurs and then away on 3 consecutive weekends at Chelsea, Blackpool, Sunderland, before facing Everton at home. It says it all when you look at Blackpool as probably the easiest of the fixtures. That month, and that run of games is going to kill us.
Add to that the possibility we might well be without Cleverley, and maybe even Nzogbia (I’ll be amazed if nobody makes a move for him) and I’m not hopeful.
We could really do with picking up points today, against Newcastle, and in the forthcoming games against Fulham and Blackburn, and possibly Villa. And I mean WINS, not draws. I don’t think the odd point is going to be enough, given the horrendous April we have.
The ridiculous thing is, if we could win today, we could go up to 12th place!
Rubbish. We basically need another 5 or 6 wins. I cant see us not getting these with the home games we have left. Am sure we wont be the only team to have a tricky April! Besides some of the teams you mention could well have nothing to play for by then.
Has Fergie not confirmed Cleverley is staying? And i cant see Whelan jeopardising 50 million by selling Charlie for 10 million when he can get 6 or 7 in the summer.

Ok then, big man, where do you see these ‘5 or 6’ wins coming from?
Everything I said in that post was spot on. Did you not like reading it?
You said some of the teams we’ll play might not have anything to play for. Who? Spurs and Chelsea? No, of course they won’t have. And Blackpool, Sunderland and Everton. Yeah, I’m sure their players will already be mentally on the beach, won’t they?
Oh, and add to that ‘tricky April’, as you put it, the fact that in May we face West Ham at home, and then Stoke away on the last day.
But not to worry, as you say……
EDIT: Read the Cleverley thread for his current situation, as I’ve just posted. That’s straight from the player himself.
I’m with the big man on this one VAT we basicly need five points a month to reach the 40 point mark 5 or 6 wins and a few draws will sufice :D
Well, if that’s the case, I hope it happens before April, as I genuinely can’t see us getting much from that month, or May.
I predict:
Spurs H- Loss (They’re a cracking side)
Chelsea A- Loss
Blackpool A- Loss (possibly a draw, but……)
Sunderland A- Loss (can just see them beating us)
Everton H- Draw.
West Ham H- Draw (they’re a better side than you think)
Stoke A- Loss (I think they’ll have too much on the day)
That is a b***ard of a run-in, and anybody saying otherwise really doesn’t have a clue. Sorry, but they don’t.
Don’t shoot me down, I’m only telling it as it is.
As you say VAT, Spurs are a cracking side and guess what, weve beaten them this season on their own middin!!
Don’t look too much into who we play and when. The old cliche of taking each game as it comes cannot be more applicable than it it is now.
Who thought we would lose 4-0 at home to Blackpool, who thought we would get a point against Arsenal, who thought we would lose at West Ham with the state they were in at the time, who thought we would get a point against Liverpool having gone 1-0 down. it goes on an on…..
I’m quite happy with our points tally after the shocking start to the season. At the moment I’m looking up rather than down. I realise it may all change with a couple of defeats, but as it stands now talking about April being the month we are relegated is absolutely barmy.

JR,
April just stands out as the month that will make or break the season. Mad how we have 3 aways in a row, due to the Blackpool fixture change. 3 defeats there could be a nail in the coffin. I just can’t see us picking a lot of points up that month, that’s all.
This is laughable Vat. Predicting 2 points out of 21! I see it as a relatively easy run in. Blackpool, Sunderland and Stoke are likely to have nothing to play for whilst West Ham and Everton at home are certainly winnable games. Compare it to West Ham’s April and you will see a tough month where they play 4 of the top 7 in the league (3 away) and the probable champions at home!
Where do we get these ‘fans’ from? And on the question of winnable games here are mine:
Fulham at home
Blackburn at home
Birmingham at home
West Ham at home
Plus at least a couple of away wins (West Brom, Blackpool and Stoke arent exactly frightening prospects). Every few months under Bobby we have pulled off a shock win somewhere down the line so you can pencil that in too at some point. Now get your negative glasses off and get behind the lads.

Football isn’t as obvious as that though. On paper those predictions are sensible but its inevitable the outcome won’t be like that. Just like nobody would have had us down to beat Spurs away or score with 10 men against Arsenal. January is the key month, mainly due to transfers rather than fixtures.
