Another very solid performance allowing Norwich only one shot on target even though they had 65% of the possession.
I cannot believe Keane missed the best chance of the game. But as I pointed out before we cannot hit a barn door. Wyke did more in the 15 he was on the pitch than Fletcher did all game.
If we don’t score more 0-0’s will be for nothing as it proved to be today.

I have to agree it was a solid performance. However I disagree with your comment on Fletcher compared to Wyke! I think Fletcher put in a very decent shift today without much success and was very much instrumental to our press that caused Norwich so many problems in the first half. It was the other forwards who let us down with their finishing today.

I also thought Fletcher played well I was surprised when he was subbed. Good performance again just a pity we did not get the victory we deserved. Hughes at the back is absolute quality and just gets better every game .Pity Watmough went off injured ,hope it’s not too serious. On to Preston next week ,another massive game but they all are at this time of the season. Come on Latics !

Beat the Nobbers next week (3-0) and we will leap frog a few teams.
Meanwhile Stoke & Birmingham have joined the bottom tier of the Championship on that slippery slope ! Owt could happen !

Fletchers job is not only to press but to score goals he won very little in the air he won even less on 1 to 1’s which to me is not good enough. Unless there’s a huge turnaround in his form scoring wise were fcuked.
Me?, I’d personally prefer Keane Power Lang to do the pressing and Fletcher to get his head down and bang a few in off the press. Stats don’t lie he rarely shoots or heads at goal

Headless chicken running around won’t keep us up, he’s a forward, a so called goal scorer and paid £18,000 a week.
As soon as Wyke came on we won more 1 on 1 battles in the 15-20minutes he was on than Fletcher did in 75.
Some think a forwards job is to push up and press when out of possession all game,

I prefer a forward to save abit and use it to score goals. In the last 7 years (bar 1 half decent season at Middlesbrough) Fletcher has scored 2 goals or less which is a frightening stat for a forward.

You need your head wobbling if you think Fletchers press will save the day ffs.

Magennis looked a far better player in the championship along with Shinnie than they did in L1 and Magennis started the season off looking far far better. Suddenly he’s gone not even making the bench which beggars belief and I’m not sure why, him and Scully looked to be no more than squad players

All three were instrumental ,especially in the first half , in playing a very effective high press game stopping Norwich from playing out from the back and forcing them into errors. Fletcher was the pick of the three with his tireless ,unselfish running basically being a nuisance to the Norwich back line. I can’t understand why you criticise Fletcher but not Keane who I thought was poor yesterday not just for that miss but he was largely anonymous for much of the game. Fletcher job is to score goals ( he scored against Bristol City ) but so is Keane and Lang’s .I think with all three we look a real threat ,we just need to be more clinical finishing chances that they are creating.

Keene’s finishing was awful but he absolutely leads the press that creates the chances. When he went off at Blackburn and again yesterday all of sudden teams were able to play through us more easily.

Wyke did win more headers than Fletcher but doesn’t press as well. Pressing is definitely not Thelo’s forte.

It’s going to be difficult to find the right balance

Disappointed is the word with yesterday of points dropped because the team was outstanding in the first half and defended the onslaught brilliantly in the second half.
Three brilliant saves made by the usual premier league standard keeper at a parachute payment club was the difference.
The players did the right things but our team lacks quality in the final third and Maloney will have to try And work on this major fault in the team now he has the back line sorted.
I have noticed a cup final like intensity since he arrived though which is now filtering to the crowd and this is good thing but those forwards need to start firing in the goals.
Have a chance but not much room for error now with the games running out.

I strongly suggest you go over the highlights at sky sports and look at our best chances Lang Keane and McCleans cross.
Then try to find Fletcher he’s not even in the frame so far off the pace he’s back in midfield.
Charging round like a headless chicken gets you nothing, if anyone seriously thinks Fletcher is better than Magennis or Wyke you need meds and fast you need help

I don’t have to go through the highlights to tell me if Fletcher had a good game or not.He is quicker than both Magennis and Wyke ,and I think that’s why Maloney has been using him ,we definitely are looking more of a threat both on the break and playing a high line. Incidentely , for Lang’s chance Fletcher was to the left of him screaming for the ball.

Three sitters missed is all we hear but we forget how good those saves were from their goalkeeper.
End of the day SM has to treat every game like a cup final and play with same intensity which will catch one or two out i think.
PNE is a massive game and a huge opportunity , big away following , has to be 3 points this saturday !

Were conceding less and Amos could have had a pint and a cig against Norwich but as I pointed out, scoring goals is our problem.

You can win say 3 games on the trot say 2-1 3-2 4-3 conceding 8 goals on the way but you can’t win if you dont score. Malhoney has addressed the defensive side of our game great by pressing higher and faster but up front we look worse than ever going forward specially the last 3rd.

We drew on Saturday and went bottom again which goes to show you draws are all for nothing if others win which they did.

                          Let’s say we draw 3 games = 3pts
Then let’s say Cardiff win 1 draw 0 lose 2 3pts.same as so clean sheets are for f**k all if you can’t score.
The last time we scored 2 goals in a game was 4 months ago. On that note unless the manager can address the attacking side of our game and be abit more courageous then I cannot for the life of me see a way out
