from the BBC website, presumably an unbiased report …

Bolton climbed off the foot of the table with victory in an enthralling Lancashire derby against Wigan.

Nigel Reo-Coker’s close-range finish gave the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Mohamed Diame’s emphatic long-range strike drew Wigan level.

The hosts dominated but David Ngog pounced deep into first-half injury-time to score his first Bolton goal.

Kevin Davies missed a second-half penalty but Chris Eagles ensured the win with a cool finish late on.

Individual mistakes proved costly for Wigan who, particularly after the half-time introduction of Hugo Rodallega, dominated for long periods.

Rodallega added some steel to the Wigan forward line when he made his return from injury as a half-time substitute. The Colombian linked well with Franco Di Santo and gave Wigan the belief they lacked in the first half.

Victor Moses was one of Wigan’s best performers, using his pace to hurt Bolton time and time again. But for all their gusto, they lacked a cutting edge in the final third and, although under pressure, Bolton weathered a lengthy second-half storm.

At the risk of being too happy-clappy, I thought it was quite a good competitive game and was pleased that we showed some attacking intent, particularly in the 2nd half

The report i read on my phone from Sky’s website (presumably from an unbiased reporter) however wasn’t anywhere near as complimentary about Latics
