This Steve Gohouri, I was wondering why he wasn’t attached to a club seeing as he is/was a full International for his country, I now know why… Will it be a problem here or will he behave?
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
14 January 2010 at 2:26 am #18239thats ok then jay he wont be going missing here,we’ll just send a posse down king street on a friday night he’ll be dead easy to find, and then on monday mornings he’ll be in the queue outside the doctors waiting for his sick note with all the others who have been on the razz all weekend.
quite well thought out signing this one
does anyone think it could be worth a punt bringing zaki back to keep him company.

Was that almost praise for Martinez?
Ah – Zaki…no it wasn’t.
16 January 2010 at 3:41 pm #18484To avoid any misunderstandings let me put it as obvious as possible, it is a pity that Steve had to leave us, since he is an amazing defender with an open heart. He is always willing to fight for his club until the referee blows the whistle. On top of that the whole crowd still loves him for his way of playing/fighting football.
That bit doesn’t sound too bad. Just what we need.
16 January 2010 at 8:33 pm #18494Yes loudmouth, i would have Zaki back in a flash, till the end of the season at least, then if he wants to go to his dream club he will have to play his socks off until may,and an on-form Zaki is a frightening thing

why?
because martinez seems to do things in a much calmer, methodical, tactical way,he seems less emotional and non confrontational,in essence ‘chilled’ which is totally opposite to what bruce was,and when dealing with a ‘head case’ as we all know zaki is this is probably the best way.
for what ever reason, probably his head was turned by the mega publicity he got,and he started to beleive his own publicity, things turned sour with us/bruce, but we again probably only know one side of the story,
i think the fee being demanded from zamalek, dealing with their nutty owner, and zaki’s less than perfect behaviour prompted the route we went down.
but ask yourselves who has never skived off work with no legitimate reason for the odd week or been a bit stroppy or bolshy with your employers at times ?one thing for sure is we all know how good zaki was at times last season, and despite everything going on off field he still chased everything every time he got a runout , a combination of injury, loss of form and sheer bad luck contributed to him going off cock, this lad was riding the crest of a wave and he probably didnt expect or know how to handle the bad bits that every player in the premiership goes through from time to time.
i will leave you to ponder on one thing, imagine a foward line of zaki up front, with rodellega and nzogbia playing off him.if martinez could give me that, even I would sign up to his pretty football philosophy.
16 January 2010 at 10:17 pm #18503pretty football? is that the same sh.t I watch passing sideways then either in to touch or Thomas giving it away? Oh well I didnt know that was pretty football I thought it was called clueless and was played by a team with no idea, oh silly me.
We got lucky today, very lucky in that Webb somehow decided to block the defender by running in front of him. We would not have scored if we had another 12 shots on target. If N Zog goes, we are going to be in a pickle as he is our obly attacking threat.

They can take Mario, Diame, Scharner, Boyce, Gomez, Koumas & Brenda “ugly face” Spencer to if they like….Now then we will have something to smile about.

1, no mention of the “Spanish One”, it’s Martinez-this, Martinez-that. Are we mellowing, LMB? ;)
2, apparently the tea lady has vetoed Zaki’s return. Personally,I would take another punt on him. Better the devil you know, and all that. Think the suggestion would have to be a really solid one coming from Bob before Whelan will let him back here, though.
PS, I like the “reducing the size for the quotes” protocol. It should be compulsory. :ugeek:

grif
1, no i will never mellow i stick by everything i ever say right or wrong, but even i find it hard to be totally objectionable (usually the norm)on the back of a hard fought(lucky or not) 2 nil away win, dont worry i have no doubts my ‘spanish one’analogy will be used again this season during my periodic rants.
2, i think the money being quoted now for zaki would more than compensate for the tea ladies hurt feelings
3, give me 5 minutes to edit my script in future before quoting me,everybody know i’m a tosser but you dont need to highlight it.
ps, you missed the ‘italics protocol’
16 January 2010 at 10:53 pm #18513I don’t think Zaki endeared himself to anyone at the club, not just the tea lady. He had a handful of decent games, got peas-above-sticks and caused disruption. Leave well alone.

For once, I actually agree with you 100%.
I rated Bruce as a manager, but I think he is the type of bloke that once you’ve crossed him, you’ll never get back in favour. Martinez is completely different.
We’ve put an offer in for Boyd at Rangers, when we’ve just signed Caldwell. Boyd isn’t coming: those two can’t stand each other!
So, as an alternative, I would have a well managed Zaki back anyday, but I don’t think Whelan would.

fec me standish griff accused me of mellowing !!
one win and its turning into a hippy style love-in.
18 January 2010 at 1:23 pm #18683You’re both wrong. Zaki crossed Bruce at least 3 times before he finally fecked him off.
