Not at Stoke ….

The absent reporter was out for dinner and spent a disproportional amount of time in the toilet taking texts from someone else not there.

After the 3rd goal delirium set in and I was told we were 5 up.

Radio 5 live said more than once that it was a truely professional performance from the newly promoted. Sky said we were fantastic. Who are we to argue with the oracles.

With speed, guile and trickery Massey sprinted through the defence to cooly slot it in for number 2.

It was Massey’s low cross that allowed Grigg, who is Stoking his fire, to step in front of his defender and poke the in the first.

Powell was emulating Franco DiSanto at Stoke when he charged in to convert another low cross. Di Santo missed connection by a gnats whisker, Powell wasn’t allowed following a shoulder dislocating hefty tug. Grigg hammered in the resulting penalty. Our ex loanee keeper from Stoke, Mr Bogdan, would probably have it.

Our friend McClean couldn’t drag Stoke out of the mire. The early netted ball for the Potters was false excitement.

For once we got a call in our favour, it was offside. Must have been a mistake.

Walton, it would be nice to say is back to his old Southampton penalty saving days, but he didn’t have a lot to do today. All the same, he was of course brilliant.

There was every possibility that Stoke would equalise, if not win, in the last minute, as has happened too many times this season, but it was a slim possibility.

In truth Cookie has noticed that they tend to fall asleep on 90 minutes. Early night last night did the trick.

It was a great game, where the true team spirit shone through. Play like this and I wont mind when we get drawn against Man City again.

Well done every one who went to Stoke to stoke Will’s fire. The biggest disappointment was not to see Peter Burn up against Dan Crouch.
