I said that he should have gone last christmas and my view is still the same. The defence is clueless. Rodallega is back on the left and as last season is a waste of time playing there. Get rid of Martinez tonight, i have never seen people leave before half time on the first game of the season.
WE HAVE LET 12 GOALS IN, IN OUR LAST 2 LEAGUE MATCHES.
WHAT A JOKE. Wish Jewell would come back, best manager we have ever had. This side is slow and passionless.14 August 2010 at 9:04 pm #42407At least he didn’t bring Gomez on! Get rid of Fig & NZogbia this week and buy players who want to play and know how to fight.

14 August 2010 at 10:42 pm #42466I’m not necessarily one to shout that he should be sacked – but I think Whelan needs to take some control that his position owning this club gives him.
Tell Martinez to change the formation and start playing 2 up front. If Roberto doesn’t want to do that then he maybe should consider his future position. He is a man of honour – this cannot be doing him any good.
The ball is in Whelan’s court. Martinez needs some advice.
The body language of the bench said it all to me today viewed from the East Stand.
RM was stood in his usual position. The bench were all sat firmly in their places, arms folded, providing him with no support – not tactical (it was too late for that) but moral support.

Well He,s had enough time to work on the defence since our last heavy defeat at Chelsea,if Bobby,Jonesy and Barrow cant motavate the players then its time to recruit new managment.in football its about progress in it, or do you leave its so its a bridge too far. the fans can see the cracks not be long before the chairman cracks the whip.15 August 2010 at 12:11 am #42519I’m not necessarily one to shout that he should be sacked – but I think Whelan needs to take some control that his position owning this club gives him.Tell Martinez to change the formation and start playing 2 up front. Spot on. Unless something is done, Martinez will be out by October. I’m afraid I can’t see us getting much, points wise, before then, either.
I also think he is too stubborn to accept somebody coming in to ‘help’ him. He’d probably argue that he already has his team in place. Which includes Graham Barrow who we plucked from European giants, Altrincham. :?
I can only see this heading one way “Unfortunately, it is with regret that we announce the departure of our manager, Roberto Martinez…..blah blah…unfortunately, it just didn’t work out as hoped…”
The big question, is…..who would you bring in? Yes, Jewell would be a good shout. Knows the club, can sort the ego’s out, etc. But would he come back? I’m not sure. I’m sure he said once “you should never go back”, so who knows? O’Neill? I doubt he’d come, and would he want to work with our stingy budgets? can’t see it. Curbishley? Is he THAT good a manager, anyway? Phil Brown? Hey, you laugh! But he’d be a contender.
It’s as much a worry as our current situation, as to who we would get in as a replacement.

E-mail the club, e-mail Whelan and e-mail Martinez with your thoughts and views
15 August 2010 at 1:11 am #42557mmmmmmmmmmm! i was one of the ‘for’ martinez brigade last season, but i agree with a lot of posts on here & on other forums in that there does seem to be nothing learned at all from last season. i was very concerned today about the lack of ideas, passion & committment.
