Well, I hold no store by these late friendlies as most of them are just trying not to get hurt.*

But, for me, Joe Cole has to go for me. That’s the one thing that come out if it. Other than Rooney, he’s the only one who offers anything more than predictable.

    * as I type, Joe Cole has just said exactly that.

Japan and Mexico are as good as, if not arguably better than USA. They are definitely better than Slovenia & Algeria.

Yet with slightly under strength teams and us playing below par we have beaten both. Get through the group stage then lets concentrate on being at our peak then.

Don’t forget Spain only just beat Saudi Arabia in the 90th minute and Portugal drew at home to Carpe Verde Islands.

As I say, I don’t think it matters. You’ll see a much better performance once the real stuff starts. I’m just pleased Joe Cole didn’t fluff his lines today. I think he has the potential to be the big star for us and hopefully he’s booked his spot now.

He was arguably our best player in 2006, I’ve always thought that Joe Cole is the most technically gifted player England have. It’s just a shame he’s struggled with injury this year, but he came back from it at the perfect time.

I agree with Griff and Pelican, I said something similar on another thread. For me he’s leagues ahead of players like Carrick and Huddlestone.

We have too many similar players in midfield, Cole is different, loads of skill, bags of quality, and can find a goal or an assist from nowhere.

For me, we can’t really afford not to take him. Although looking back over past England England World Cup squads, I wouldn’t be suprised if he didn’t go.

I agree with most of what’s been said….when the real competition starts we will see whether Fabio has got it right or not. I think it’s all turning into one big mind game – no-one wants to show their hand too soon (all but Brazil who I believe are already in South Africa with a fully declared team getting proper practice in).

Bring on the competition……………….I can’t wait.

You really must learn to start your sentences with a capital letter you know…………. :D
