Keep an eye and an ear out for them, locally.
They sound really good, and if you’re an Oasis fan, they’ll be right up your street.

8 February 2011 at 12:36 am #58754My lad is the drummer in Oaces, not heard them yet, but he is very excited about the project.
Was it practising at Swinley LC you heard them Dave, or have they done a secret gigg without telling me? :shhh:

Jrfatfan, I’m always keeping my eyes and ears open as to what is happening on the music scene. My first thoughts when I heard about this new Oasis tribute band, actually had me fearing the worst. I was wrong.
I’ve heard recordings of their rehearsal at Swinley, and considering it was a rough-ish recording, straight into a microphone, it came out very well indeed. Good enough for a demo.
All the musicians sound very good, the vocalist sounds pretty good ‘in the Liam’ style. However, he’s going to have to watch his voice dragging out the notes like Liam does, as he could easily hurt his throat. The only, slight on the band, is the lack of backing vocals, a la Noel. And of course, Noel Gallagher does ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, which is an absolute MUST for any Oasis tribute band.
I also believe they are doing a lot of the more recent Oasis stuff. That’s fine, but as you no doubt already know, most people get stuck on ‘hits’. So unless you hit upon a room full of die-hard Oasis fans, the lesser known tracks might not go down that well.If it were me, I’d be doing all the ‘favourites’, such as the likes of:
Supersonic, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Morning Glory, Aquiesce, Live Forever, Cast No Shadow, Stand By Me, Don’t Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, Colombia, Round Our Way, Masterplan, Don’t Go Away, Slide Away, Whatever, Some Might Say, and the likes.
Let’s face it, Oasis are no more, so a ‘greatest hits’ tour ain’t gonna happen!
I’m actually working on possible venues for them, and will be keen on hearing more of them over the coming months. Marketed rightly, they could do well, and if they put the work in, could earn some decent money. I was surprised how good they sound. And I don’t give praise easily, you know that Jrfatfan. :D
If anybody can tell me how to upload audio tracks on here, or how to host them, I will put the clips up. Oh, I might have a mess about with Windows movie maker, and upload it on to Youtube, then post the link here.
13 February 2011 at 10:38 pm #59419Not sure if this will work but got a couple of tracks of Oaces from my lad. As you said Dave although they are just recorded straight from the mic and don’t pick up a solid back line they still sound OK.
You should be able to play and download the tracks from this sharing website.

I’ve put a couple of Silverstone covers in too. My lad does the lead vocals on Strangetown.

What a journey!21 March 2011 at 9:23 pm #62264Seems like they may be playing club Nirvana in Wigan, this New Years Eve. They hope to be fully on the road come August / September time, so all you Oasis fans watch out for their forthcoming giggs.
