Bruce has got some neck moaning about Liverpool tapping up Kenwyn Jones while he taps up Fig and Kirkland !!

The only decent thing Fig has done this year is the wonder-strike at Stoke. His general defensive positioning has been shocking and he’s gone to sleep quite a lot this season. There’s definitely been a big drop off in performance from last season, maybe because there’s no competition for him? He was definitely guilty again of leaving acres down his side on Saturday when their right side and Lee Hughes drifting out there had a field day.

It’s a sad state of affairs if that Mail story is true and makes a mockery of Roberto’s claims about him being happy here because he has a sense of loyalty to us. It needs nipping in the bud quickly though or things like this gather pace and cause friction in the squad which is obviously there amongst some of our bretheren!

Would love to be a fly on the wall in Whelan’s office when Bobby tells him a player has gone on strike.
          The reaction would be priceless.

Hmmm – the daily mail publishes a story just after midnight saying Figgs is going on strike because he couldn’t sort out his future on Tuesday??

Nobody else is reporting it so unless a Daily Mail reporter took the time out to come to Wigan and spend a day with Figgs or Bob then I would dismiss this as a junior reporter trying to get some sort of story out into the paper.

The cynic in me suggests that:

              It is either:

A: A story engineered by his agent, to get him a move.

              or

B: A story engineered by the club, to attract a bid.

If however, it happens to be TRUE, then I think he (Figueroa) is being unbelievably cocky and big-headed, and could do well to remember the shack where he came from. Did anyone else see that video floating about a few weeks ago? It was of his family. They basically live in a shack by the river, and his dad was in a friggin hammock! Total third-world. We sign him, securing his family for ever….and this type of thing happens.

I’m expecting interest from Sunderland and Spurs, with Palacios being there and all that.

I’m shocked that you could even think a newspaper as reputable as the Daily Mail might countenance printing an untruth in their honest, down to earth, responsible publication. Then again, I wouldn’t trust the lying to$$ers as far as I could spit.

If he has gone on strike I hope Whelan shows some balls and bans him completely from our club until his contract runs out…don’t know when its up, but if its a couple of years, lets see who comes in for a bloke who hasnt even trained with us for 2 years, that said, its probably bull and I expect him to play tonight

                  #20018

the cheeky get has gone on strike because noone has talked to him about his future ?

after the way he played on saturday i will be surprised if anyone ever talks to him again.

                  #20028

Well his ‘strike’ didnt last long. He’s been named in the team for tonight.

                  #20029

Not much of a strike, judging by tonight’s teamsheet:-

Wigan: Stojkovic, Melchiot, Caldwell, Bramble, Figueroa, Thomas, Diame, N’Zogbia, Scharner, McCarthy, Rodallega.
Subs: Pollitt, Gohouri, Amaya, Scotland, Gomez, Sinclair, Boyce.

Anyway, last comment until tomorrow. Don’t want to be accused of commenting on the match having stayed at home :D

Just proves that the Daily Mail as thought by most, writes total rubbish.

And this is what has come out of the club on YOTAC this morning. It sounds like it was his agent, in cahoots with Sunderland, basically trying to get Figueroa to strike to get a move. I think Maynor’s gone in to training, unsure of things, and Roberto has managed to coax out of him what’s been said to him by the agent.

Surely we should be making a complaint about ‘tapping up’?

                    It was actually:

                    C. A story engineered by his agent to get him a huge pay rise.

Sunderland wont buy him. As others say on this site, he aint that good, and one “wondergoal” apart, hasnt set the world on fire. We’ve already got one very average Left Back thanks!
