Does anyone care about football in the games ? or the games in general ?
19 July 2012 at 12:23 pm #90419In the same sense that I dont care about league 2 I prefer football to be on the telly rather than not.
As for the Olympics, I suspect it will get more interesting as it starts, but mainly with the traffic chaos and security problems mounting will make interesting TV viewing.
Am I the only one who thinks the Army on the streets must relate to a terrorist threat?
19 July 2012 at 12:54 pm #90423Don’t think it’s a certain terrorist threat. Think it has been done as a general deterrent. You wouldn’t like to be of an asian persuasion carrying a bomb whilst being stalked by a load of 20odd year old lads with automatic weapons.
19 July 2012 at 1:02 pm #90424in a politically correct sense; well done there Yosser..!!

With a world wide audience and a history of infamous terrorist attacks on it, the Olympics are seen as a potential target wherever they are held.
The UK govt is not doing anything different in relation to deploying troops or surface to air missiles that Greece & China haven’t done in the 2 games held since 2001.
Alot of it is, as yosser says, to act as a deterrent – the missiles on top of tower blocks for instance, I read on the Beeb’s website last week some military analyst saying that they would never be used or need to be used as fighter jets & other things would have been scrambled long before the missiles would be of any use against a threat anyway20 July 2012 at 3:04 am #90473I’m going the GB match on Thursday at Old Trafford. The only chance I’ll get to see an Olympic event so I thought ‘Why not?’ Was hoping for a better draw than the two games I get (Uruguay v UAE and GB v Senegal) but I get to see Diame and Cleverley play so at least I can watch two ex Latics players in International action.
20 July 2012 at 3:39 am #90477I’m going to that one and the Sunday double-header Brazil v Belarus and New Zealand v Egypt. Also going to QF which will be Spain if they win their group, and the Semi final.
It’s a good chance to see football this early in the year (having forgotten that TNS were playing Helsingborgs this week) and maybe some youngsters of the future.
Although have already seen Senegal when went to the “Ali’s free tickets” game at Coventry.
20 July 2012 at 12:29 pm #90481well being honest i cant stand the olympics
