and you just couldn’t make it up. On the way down from Billinge to the DW I seen two lads wearing Liverpool tops, a lad and a girl wearing Everton tops, three kids wearing Man Utd tops, another woman wearing a Liverpool top and a Chelsea top. When I parked up, there were two other lads wearing Liverpool tops.
Is it me or is Wigan the only town in the Country where its people support other towns and cities? I wonder what it feels like to come from Wigan and be shouting Manchester or Liverpool….FFS!!!
As for Wigan being a Rugby town……I think not…just every other fekker supports other teams
25 August 2009 at 4:05 pm #6476spot on jimmy ,pissed me off sat in pubs seeing wiganers dancing about in pubs shouting man ure if they wanna be mancs they should fook off and live there .
25 August 2009 at 4:08 pm #6479does me head in even more when they refer to Man U as “we” What the fook!!!
25 August 2009 at 4:12 pm #6481and better still some of the fookers do not know where old trafford is
25 August 2009 at 4:14 pm #6483Theres no way they can feel the same pride as us when there team wins, I bet when Manure won the treble in 99 they were not as happy as us when we won the auto windscreens, just another day at the office for them. I honestly can’t understand the mentality of them and there is no getting through to them, Thick fookers the lot of them. They can stay away for me though, nowt worse than sitting next to some JCL on matchday that hasn’t got a clue what they are talking about.
25 August 2009 at 4:57 pm #6491I had occasion to be walking down Montrose Avenue, and as I got towards the bottom, not far from the lights, a guy came out of one of the terraced houses, and was wrapping a United scarf around his neck. The scarf was the height of fashion……circa 1986.
Honest to god, what CAN you do? :?
I think sometimes that all these people have a “anybody but latics” attitude.
25 August 2009 at 6:46 pm #6508These people don’t associate football with the real world, to them it’s all about which club is doing well and on the telly the most, they have never been to a football ground just like their dads before them. Mind you when you look how much it cost at utd last season you can’t blame them!
25 August 2009 at 6:51 pm #6509There are seats available for ALL United games this season.
Don’t let any plastic give you the old “Can’t get tickets” crap.
25 August 2009 at 7:24 pm #6514Well listen this this really pissed me off.
I have always been a Latics fan, although my family are from Liverpool except me. I am officially the woolyback in their eyes. Anyways, my cousin is quite high up at Alliance and Leicester and he knew someone who works at Wigan who could get us players lounge tickets. He knows we (hubby, me and kids) are all Latics mad and duely did the deal.
My sister is an armchair Liverpool supporter and her husband is an egghead. She despises Wigan and we don’t even go there with our convo’s as she knows I am better in an argument than her.
Anyhow at a family do on Fri , she had the cheek to ask where were her tickets. He must have said ‘oh I didn;t know you were a Latics fan’ and she must have said ‘Oh I am not’. She wopuld have been happy to watch Wigan, jsut because I had. I wasn’t privvy to the convo but my cousin came over to me after she had left and said ‘Cheers Jo, I have to sort xxx (named removed in case people know us!!) out now.’
Turns out he now has to try and get 3 corporate tickets for her, hubby and her daughter because they were jealous of me. THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A MATCH AT ANFIELD EVER.
I am so pissed off with her.Sorry it sounds dead bitchy but needed to offload!!!
25 August 2009 at 8:01 pm #652499% of Liverpool (so called) fans based in Wigan have never been to Anfield….in fact, in an argument with one of my mates who is a Liverpool fan , I asked him to give me directions to Anfield….
….guess where he directed me to….
….Goodison
I kid you not…
25 August 2009 at 8:18 pm #6525She despises Wigan and we don’t even go there with our convo’s as she knows I am better in an argument than her.I’m not surprised. She probably can’t get a word in. :o

If you dropped them off at Goodison they’d probably get lost
26 August 2009 at 12:19 am #6556Unfortunately Wigan is like every other town and city in Britain……………
FULL OF DICKHEADS!
26 August 2009 at 2:04 pm #6615I have a couple of neighbours who profess to being Liverpool supporters. Despite both being late thirties, I doubt if either of them have been to Anfield more than half a dozen times in their lives. Both have grown up in Standish, and neither of them, that I’m aware of, comes from a Scouse family – Standish being Standish, everyone tends to know everyone via a degree or two of separation.
Anyway, a couple of seasons ago, I walked into the Dog and Partridge in Standish, when a Liverpool match was on. The pub was heaving, and there in their replica red shirts were the two neighbours, who acknowledged me as I went in. I went to the bar to get the Mrs and myself drinks, when one of the neighbours came to the bar.
‘Orr-eh, do yooos two want a drinkkk?’
This bloke speaks with a Wigan accent Monday to Friday, but it appears that on Saturdays when Liverpool are on the telly, the minute he walks through the D&P pub door, his body is possessed by Joey Boswell.
Needless to say, we drank up and left.
Saw the same neighbours a few days later who greeted me with ‘Oreet?’ Pitiful.
On the other hand, I’ve got a mate who has had a season ticket at Liverpool for twenty-odd years – it was his dad’s ticket before him, and he’s watched them all over Europe. He’s as broad Wigan as is possible in a normal human, and says he feels uncomfortable when the Scousers play Wigan. He didn’t go last season as he got p*ssed off with all the woolly-back / inbreds/ sh*t ground, sh*t fans comments, as after all, they were taking the p*ss out of his kin-folk.
For him, I have respect. Doesn’t belittle Wigan, but hasn’t switched allegiance and jumped on the bandwagon.
