…I’m currently watching ITV’s highlights of the final and, despite thinking otherwise prior to that day, there is no way that I would ever swap it for staying up.
Currently watching the first half and – having seen Watson’s goal thousands of times – I’d forgotten just how well we played in the previous 90 minutes. Robles save with his foot vs Tevez is incredible and in some ways right up there with Ben’s goal. Without that brilliant stop the final would’ve been dead and buried by the end of the first half.
Tomorrow we witness yet another unique piece of footballing history when, for the first time, we begin our defence of this historic trophy. We will be playing MK Dons in the 3rd round as !!!!HOLDERS!!!! of the FA Cup. As hard to believe as us winning the damn thing last May!
I’m sure the sense of occasion will not be lost on the new manager/new players. Might be a crowded midfield, but it’d be lovely to see Boyce, Espinoza, Gomez, McManaman, McArthur, Watson (and Ali) all start wouldn’t it? :)
4 January 2014 at 9:51 am #125672If you can include Al Habsi in the team, then Beausejour was also very much one of the squad. Watson will be missing today with a foot injury.
Just for the record, it was Gomez who scored the penalty to give us a draw against Bournemouth. We then played Fulham in the league and Martinez made nine changes for the replay. The winning goal was scored by … Boselli.

That chap’s name does appear to come cropping on up on a regular basis, doesn’t it ?
Is he any good ? …. heard he’s got a wicked left foot ….

4 January 2014 at 6:43 pm #125676With the exception of injured Watson, it looks like all the above are starting, incl JB. Even Fyvie is on the bench just like in the final.
Speaks volumes that Uwe – well done!4 January 2014 at 7:35 pm #125677If you can include Al Habsi in the team, then Beausejour was also very much one of the squad. Watson will be missing today with a foot injury.

Sounds like our front 2 (Holt, Fortune) could well learn a thing or two from a certain Mr Reeves.
Still, me thinks MK Dons have had their day; I’ll go 1-0 Wigan in the replay (memories of Bournemouth last year).
Any news on the transfer front (striker in ?)
4 January 2014 at 10:45 pm #125680It was the same as Bolton. 2-0 up and cruising, then foot off the gas let them start playing and bang, bang 2-2!!!
We’re lucky to get another chance as the last 10 minutes it was only them that looked like scoring.
We desperately need a striker !!! :(

5 January 2014 at 3:44 am #125684I’m sure you can guess what the sad sack is on about. But he will ignore the fact that when a certain rugby league club defended their cup title they could muster slightly over 4000 in the first game of their defence of the cup.
I’m not sure what is the saddest. The attendance at their match or the fact that sad boy has been waiting dick in hand for today to come around.
5 January 2014 at 4:14 am #125685Also when we famously beat City to win the greatest cup competition in the world, millions and millions of people all over the globe watched our finest hour. When they won the Mickey Mouse equivalent, more people watched celebrity big brother.

Maybe we can get Boselli on loan in time for the replay?

Scoring for fun, providing that extra quality (when he’s on the pitch!), causing a good few deluded ‘supporters’ to eat their words, …. keep it up Jordi B)
