I dob’t know what the roads are like that you regularly drive on but the ones in and around Leyland and Preston are absolutely shocking! There doesn’t seem to be anything being done about them either and they are just getting worse and worse!

When I read things like that link above knowing what is spent on things like the link below it makes my fucking blood boil!
I’ve always held the view that public infrastructure and health, social care, education etc should be properly funded, and that we could hold TV telethons hosted by celebrities for things like Trident etc that people can give to if they wish

We would rather fund upgrades to “Smart motorways” (motorways with speed cameras which will create obscene amounts of revenue in fines) than maintain our A and B routes. There is little point in improving roads that ain’t gonna generate any money in return. The motorist being the devil incarnate has to accept that he is expected to be ripped off at every opportunity with no fuss.
I now live over Clitheroe way and the state of the roads is appalling, especially minor roads which have become noticeably worse over the last few months no doubt due to freeze and thaw damage.
All created by crippling and basically futile austerity measures, exacerbated by the impending cost of Brexit.

As I have said Sammy, they find the money to upgrade the motorway system for miles and miles causing total misery for years which does naff all to improve traffic flow when completed. All disguised to hide the real reason which is to put speed cameras above all lanes. Rural roads are neglected coz there is no way of recovering the costs needed to improve them.
The roads over here in South Lincolnshire are pretty poor, with potholes a plenty. Maintaining roads and cutting back overhanging trees are not seen as a priority to our local politicians who are elected by the types who drive tractors or 4×4. But there’s always funding for an indoor bowls and bridge centre for the blue rinse brigade who drive there in their mercs, audis and 4x4s.

Have you seen the potholes on Fox Lane just before the West Paddock roundabout. Must be about a yard long. Ridiculous. Been like that over a week :angry:
