After yesterday’s disappointing result and performance, I think we need to take a bit of stock.

Apart from the appalling defensive displays in three of our first five games, we have probably picked up as many points as most of us would have predicted considering the fixtures – Spurs, Chelsea and Man City, plus Sunderland to a certain degree is not an easy start.

It’s the games against Brum, Wolves, Newcastle etc which are going to define our season. Last season we were rubbish against our rivals so let’s see if we can post an improvement this term.

If we can’t string some positive performances and results together in the next set of games, then I think we can question where we are going, but for me it is still too early.

By the way, by the sounds of the talk on the board over the last few days it sounds like we won’t have a big crowd on Wednesday. I know we are closing one of the stands, but couldn’t we as a gesture give away a shed load of tickets to schools in the Wigan area? Forget quid a kid, just give them away and all those kids will have to take an adult with them as it’s an evening game.

    Just a thought.

I have two kids that go to games and under no circumstances will my missus let me take them to night matches wilst they are at school.

I think the idea is great, the demographic is wrong.

we have been giving free tickets to schools in the wigan area for the last 3 years – no-one wants them

to be honest i would rather have my child taught by a catholic priest than subject him to martinez’s tedium.

Yet I have friends with kids in two schools and neither have had free tickets offered to them…

It doesnt add up that no one wants to go !

It would be a shame if Preston brought more fans to the DW than us :o

I think Wednesday is a prime example of a game where Roberto could change his rigid formation to two up front and have a real go at Preston.

Preston are on a dreadful run, their manager has been banished to the stands and they should be there for the taking.

We should drop the prima donna that is N’Zogbia and play Moses from the start and shake up that midfield trio by playing Cleverley in there to put a bit of hunger back in the team.

      My team would be:

      4-4-2
      Al Habsi
      Stam
      Boyce (at centre back)
      Alcaraz
      Figueroa
      Moses
      Thomas
      Diame
      Cleverley
      Boselli
      Di Santo

And let’s see what happens………..that team should be way too strong for Nob End
