Does anyone think young sharpie is regretting his decision to sack GC & was a tad too hasty in doing so.

Coyle, Rosler, Mackay people on here and elsewhere were calling for their heads for a while before they went. Don’t recall much clamour for GC’s head.
Any club, surely, changes manager to improve…Which is more important, results or how we play?
Results for me. I dont care at the moment if we win ugly or lucky (aka Huddersfield). If we lose say 4-3 having given it everything, so be it. But to lose 1-0 having played with no strikers isnt good enough. To do it 2 games running ie not learn is not acceptable.
I fear we will turn into Blackburn’s manager merry go round. For me Yootha’s gone by the end of the year (or 2nd Jan) without a major change of tactics/luck :S
11 December 2016 at 3:45 am #152981Caldwell is as culpable in the fact he made changes that were unnecessary. Last seasons team would be doing a damn site better than this lot. Meddling when not needed shipping out players brought in in January. Since Bobby the managers brought in by the board have been abject failures end of. Until we have a guy who is prepared to go back to proper basics and yes I mean 4-4-2 we will go from one disaster to another. As you can guess lads I,m really fooled off with this.

Fuck the EFL
11 December 2016 at 12:37 pm #152985GC was slated for being too defensive & negative since we came back to the championship. But I was starting to feel that things (albeit slowly) were turning around.
What has frustrated me about joyce so far, is despite the promise of playing quick, attacking football, his style of football has taken defensive & negative football to a whole new level.
11 December 2016 at 1:00 pm #152987Could be that his aim is not to lose rather than playing to win until he can get his own players in in january that he thinks can play the way he wants us to … but thats not working either
11 December 2016 at 1:41 pm #152989Last season Villa were a premier team, we were first division. To loose by 1 goal with only 5 mins left, isn’t a battering. 2nd half last week against Derby, we played really well and should have got something out of the game.
I think we need to wait until January to see who he can bring in. To be fair most of our players aren’t good enough for this level. Sorry to say it but it’s true.11 December 2016 at 1:47 pm #152990Could be that his aim is not to lose rather than playing to win until he can get his own players in in january that he thinks can play the way he wants us to … but thats not working eitherPlay any formation or tactics he likes, but ultimately managers are judged on results. 4 out of 5 games under Yootha we havent scored. He plays with no strikers…
We fluked the win at Huddersfield (penalties etc). Any team can fluke a result sometime – after all Barrow had a 100% win record in charge ;)
Sad to say, but I dont think Yootha will last much longer without a change of tactics (and preferably results)

11 December 2016 at 2:31 pm #152994Very true Ray but if we had have attacked Villa and had a go and still lost less fans would be upset. It seems alien to Little Wigan to sit back and take it and hit them on the break from the kick off. There are times you are under the cosh and have to defend and hit a side on the break but to start with these intentions is something none of us have seen before. Little Wigan have always had a go and feared no side and that was even when we were shit!!

On this occassion however, i 100% agree with you.
Ray, with all due respect to yourself, it makes no difference to me what league either team was in last season. What is frustrating me is the fact that we are playing in a way to avoid defeat (& even that is failing), as opposed to at least having a go.
However, in fairness to what crammy has said. Maybe joyce is seeing out this month & will be bringing in “his” players come january as he doesn’t rate those he has. Afterall, he might have people in mind who can play to the system he wants, & hence, results will hopefully improve.
I am not panicking yet. We are within touching distance of those around us & i for one will be happy with a 4th from bottom finish come the end. But personally, i just want to see an end to the boring negative tactics that IMO, were a lot worse than the ones (that according to some on here), adopted by caldwell. Apart from one lucky result, it aint working.
