PA system and the stuff they play on it totally takes away the chance to build up an atmosphere before the match. Today though they asked us at the end to show our appreciation which we were doing and then the PA system starts belting out some bilge and totally crushes out the noise generated by the crowd.
Barnsley have started using social media to get people to do song requests for the tannoy announcer to play. I think we should try this.
Not sure about anybody else, but I’m a bit sick of hearing The Snake and Northern Soul. It’s a bit boring now. We need something a bit upbeat and cranked up a bit. Here’s a few I’d like to hear….

Yes, me, it’s a wigan thing not sure at the match though. Keep the faith.Just turn it off as soon as the players are anywhere near the field. None of that fanfare bollox stuff. Must admit hearing the same tunes is monotonous week in week out and there’s some crackers amongst the selections. Think it says something about the age of us lot though.

Trust me marrer Northern Soul has still got massive numbers who follow the faith. Nothing else gets a dance floor fuller. The Swinley has a Northern gig last Sunday afternoon of every month and the place is normally rammed. I myself have done NS gigs and they always go down well.
Trouble is NS is usually the most commercial of songs recognisable eg The Snake, Out on the floor ,Tainted Love etc. Proper soulies ask for the better more obscure stuff.
