All black kits, or even all black shirts are a pretty modern thing. Until recently, black kits were for referees and officials.
GARSWOODLATIC, can you think of anybody wearing an all black kit in the cup final? I’m struggling to think of anybody. My mind is telling me Everton wore one in the 30s but where that little nugget has come from, I have no idea. Certainly, I think of all the post war finals and I can’t think of any.

There’s listings of all FA Cup final kits way back from the beginnings. Early kits look more like jockey attire!
Turns out Cardiff wore all black in 07/08. Had quite a bit of fluorescent yellow and white trim, though. A few years earlier, United also wore black, but had white socks on.

Apart from the cynical view that club will sell loads more shirts, why aren’t we sticking with red?
Thought we stood out vs Millwall and it’d look great vs the light blue of City. And if we can’t wear our regular colours at our first FA Cup final, shouldn’t we wear our original colours?
Plus teams in red are traditionally more successful.
You might be right, the team did just about everything right last night and just needed that little piece of luck, the chinese certainly think red is lucky

Roberto wants to play in black, the players do and we won all our away ties in the black kit.
