Believe everything you read on the internet these days?

After a 30 second Google search:
Paramore, Emo’s great hopes attempt to expand their sound. They blow it. If you just so happen to be one of the best in the up-tempo pop-smattered emo-punk game, why bother slowing down?
      NME

      Incorrect

Paramore’s second album is a depressing malaise of generic punk pop set to anodise the kids into complicit dullardness.
      Drowned In Sound

Punk pop – more towards the truth.

Paramore: With these punk bands burning bright and dying fast, the music transformed rapidly; emo has gone through enough twists and evolutions during its lifespan to fill a history twice as long.
      Stylus Magazine

      Any proof of this ’emo’?

Tennessee pop-punks Paramore have announced two Irish dates this summer.
The band will play Belfast’s Kings Hall on June 22 and will support Green Day at Dublin’s Marlay Park on June 23.
      Kerrang

Pop punk again, again liking them to green day is totally wrong. Just because they play on the same tour as them doesnt make them the same type of genre.

On Friday (January 11), organizers announced that My Chemical Romance and the All-American Rejects will top the bill at the Bamboozle Left, along with previously announced headliners Paramore.

Let’s make this simple shall we, Download festival 2003, main stage saturday, Iron Maiden after Iron Maiden – Marilyn Manson, also on the stage, Funeral for a friend. So under your assumption Iron Maiden = Funeral for a Friend.

I’d say I was correct. Squawk.

I’d sooner take information from their own website than anybody elses. ;)

      Genre : Alternative.

Whatever, they and their music are far too young and poppy for me anyway.

But, how can you class something as alternative when it’s actually mainstream?

So from emo to poppy, moving the goal posts?

Mainstream? Remind me again when was the last time one of their singles hit number 1 in the charts? O yes , not once. Thanking you.

I hope that wasn’t aimed at me.

I do know about the band, it’s just some uneducated trolls decide to try to talk about something of which they know nothing about. Just correcting the people that are wrong.

            Won’t bother next time.

Apologies. I will ensure my sons do a BA in Paramore at a good university when they are old enough. Clearly my education is lacking, and I now feel my A Level in Busted and HND in Blink 182 are meaningless in today’s society.

You win again Parakeet. Clearly Paramore are an ‘alternative’ band, as every mainstream band have at least one number one. I’m sure they play Paramore all the time at King Tut’s in Glasgow or The Metro in London.

Would love Filmoss’ thoughts on this.

Well Standish, our Jeff ( Bob ) just informed me that you would love my thoughts on these lot as I hadn’t even opened the thread due to the fact that I dont like them. I have heard this c r a p a thousand times before in all sorts of guises. I would describe these as Avril Lavigne meets Panic At The Disco, two acts very much aimed at the adolescents and freshers. Not my bag at all hence me not reading thread prior to nudge from Bob !

I think they are a really good band and I enjoy their music… Plus filmoss, Avril Lavigne and PANIC! at the disco are both bands I like… But think Paramore are nothing like any of them.
