Has had an interview for the Bristol City job.
Not a big loss really is it seeing as he’s a own and out of his depth
28 July 2020 at 7:16 pm #188270It worries me that if he goes, who will he take with him?
28 July 2020 at 8:45 pm #188274Earlier in the season, the general consensus was that Cook wouldnt resign because he had a massive contract that would net him a huge payoff if he was sacked.
If he goes, then surely compensation of a similar amount would be due.

Hopefully
Garner
Fox
Pilkington
Save us selling all our prospects. Will he be missed ?, theres 2 halfs to a season , dont forget the first half were he couldn’t motivate John Holmes on viagra.28 July 2020 at 10:21 pm #188277It won’t be those three cup winners, unless their treatment table is bigger than ours!
It’s Morsy, Naismith and Kipre to start with, and who knows from the youth teams.
I think most of us would have driven him down to Bristol in December ( some still would!) but I really hope we can keep hold of him.29 July 2020 at 7:11 am #188278Wasnt it under similar circumstances he left Portsmouth due to a change of ownership?
29 July 2020 at 8:05 am #188281Timing stinks if true I think he’ll wait to see what happens on the 31st, if he bails before what sort of message is that sending out.
29 July 2020 at 8:15 am #188282All got what you wanted. Cooko the clown has gone. Way out his depth anyway and was lucky to finish 18th and 13th.
Typically he finished 12 clear of relegation last season but only 10 this season when it mattered. Useless.
Hopefully he takes Naismith with him as well.
29 July 2020 at 10:10 am #188285Apologies Stu! But I was always a pro Cook guy. I do hope he hangs on until the outcome of the hearing. I actually think Wigan is the perfect fit for him.
29 July 2020 at 10:13 am #188286As soon as I have posted my comment, I’ve just read that Paul Cook has resigned.
29 July 2020 at 11:08 am #188287If the rumours are true he’s resigning then what about much needed compensation.
Wtf kind of press statement is this:“Wigan would have been due compensation had he moved directly into another job, but it is understood Cook has told the administrators he does not have another position lined up.”
I can tell you this, if it’s true the admin guys will not let that happen a friendly handshake, pat on the back.
Cook is a asset a part of the club like players and if we are due compensation we will get it end of29 July 2020 at 11:27 am #188290I’m pretty sure there is protection from managers resigning and then getting new jobs soon after otherwise nobody would pay any compo
29 July 2020 at 11:56 am #188291Were in the hands of administrators, they’d sell the soap in the showers if it raised money. Bristol or who ever won’t get him on the cheap. Imagine Moore walking in the managers office.
“Right that’s,me done, I jack I’m off join QPR”.
In the world of football contracts are signed to prevent players and managers alike upping sticks and joining another club straight after.
If there’s anybody who needs money right now its us !!!! FFS29 July 2020 at 12:01 pm #188292Quote:
They can leave via either mutual consent with the club, where both parties agree that they have no problem in parting away.Or the coach might decide to retire or he might have had an offer from another club, in case he has offer then the new club has to offer a compensation to the current club. It might be a pre agreed fee between both clubs or usually the coach salary for remaining months of his contract.
29 July 2020 at 1:03 pm #188294Does he know something we don’t?
There could be new owners imminent and they don’t have him in their plans. -
