has bitten the dust……..
24 November 2009 at 10:18 pm #13771Dirty get. Mind you, what d’you expect, coming from Golborne
25 November 2009 at 2:12 am #13812Who did he play for? I forget.
Was it Sheff Wednesday? Bury? Notts Forest?
They ring a bell with him, anyway.
25 November 2009 at 2:58 am #13821Vat, he was most noted for Leeds and Forest.
A product of Golborne (as Griff pointed out) and Abram, and one who is always proud to consider himself to be a Wiganner, and also proud to have started his career on Abram Park.
He was set an impossible task at Pompey, and for anyone that has met him, he is a true gentleman and a thoroughly nice bloke.
He would be a fantastic addition at Wigan in some capacity.
25 November 2009 at 3:04 am #13823Portsmouth……sold all their best players, Defoe (hmmm, where’s he now?-Sorry!) Crouch, and Kranjcar.
Mourinho would have failed under those circumstances. Poison chalice that.
Is it right Avram Grant is back there? He’ll have to have the job. Doubt anybody else will fancy it.
25 November 2009 at 12:27 pm #13830I understand he was sacked for only putting 4 past us….
25 November 2009 at 2:04 pm #13841He would be a fantastic addition at Wigan in some capacity.Perhaps he was our best never left-back.
Or am I mixing him up with Ian Harte? :?
25 November 2009 at 2:28 pm #13842Now that reminds me of the good old CL days!
But who is our best leftback?
Actually scratch that!
Oh and did we ever decide if it was Bainsey or Mcmillan?
25 November 2009 at 2:35 pm #13843It was Joey Hinnigan
25 November 2009 at 6:34 pm #13850McMillan didnt play enough, Good enough sure but Kevin Sharp did a fantastic job for us in the 90s, People forget the quality of some of the individuals we had then. Kilford was also a cracker but never rolls off the tongue does it.
25 November 2009 at 6:39 pm #13851Kilford played midfield didnt he? Or have the years tainted my memory!
Steve Mcmillan was too injury prone and Bainsey was raw at the time!
Infact i think id take leighton over Figgy if it was offered! I wonder if wel go back there if sunderland come sniffing!
25 November 2009 at 7:22 pm #13861When Kilford first joined us on loan , we couldn’t believe how good he was. Certainly head and shoulders above the rest of the team, which obviously wasn’t saying much.
When he then joined us permanently I remember being over joyed at signing this great Notts Forest reserve !!!
Look how far we’ve come.
25 November 2009 at 7:41 pm #13867Billy Sutherland could be up there for best left back. Kenny Morris at right back. Tha wouldnt have argued with either of those two.
26 November 2009 at 2:36 am #13890Portsmouth……sold all their best players, Defoe (hmmm, where’s he now?-Sorry!) Crouch, and Kranjcar.Mourinho would have failed under those circumstances. Poison chalice that.

Avram Grant is currently in an overseas capital city (4 hours flight, heading west) getting a work permit and the required documentation. I’d put my left tenticle on him being the next Pompey manager despite denying it in the press.
He’s been with the club for a month of so, but nobody was actually aware for what reason. Considering a lot of their current investors are Israeli and the previous (but one) owner Gaydamak was also also from that neck of the woods, I’m sure it isn’t mere coincidence that he’s appeared on the scene.
But Paul Hart…gentleman, and a Wiganner to boot.
