“Supporters are asked to refrain from persistent standing. Supporters are kindly asked to remain seated during the game. Any supporters who persistently stand will face ejection form the ground”
There won’t be many going, and even fewer at full time ;)
Maybe if they had dedicated standing areas, we’d get a few more ex fans back and a better atmosphere. Wasn’t something like this discussed a few months back by the football league?

Yeah, I heard about that & if the stands are built securely, why not ?
They use them in rugby & people would prefer to stand than sit on a seat.

The Hillsbrough Charity Team (or whatever they’re called) would have an eppy if that happened.

Doesn’t that contravene Premier League and Football Association rules though?
I stood for the remaining 20 minutes last week, because I definitely wasn’t blocking anybody’s view of the game — my section was completely empty for three rows up!
For shame, people! You should only leave early if you’re on fire, your car is on fire, or your wife is in labour (and/or on fire), and even then that’s only because it’s a no smoking venue! :)

People should have a choice.
The reason why they prefer them to stand rather then sit at rl games is because the clubs (especially) the rags, had to keep fixing broken seats has there not really made to carry the weight of 20 stone people

Never understood it myself either, but the fact is that some folk leave early whatever the situation. The ‘to avoid the traffic’ excuse always makes me laugh as we usually get to the pub while they’re still waiting for their first pint.
Does that go for Man Utd. and Liverpool fans as well :?:
Be hard to get 6,000 away fans to sit down.
Be fookin impossible…..as the stand only holds 5,400, maximum.
I wonder if we are 6-0 down with 20 minutes left, if the stewards go on a mad ‘jobsworths’ mission and start collaring people as they walk out. That would be so hilarious. ‘Nut’ one of them, get arrested, took to cop shop, booked, issued with a ban from the stadium…….
and STILL be home in time to hear Martinez say:
“we have some positives. Ronnie Stam got some more game time, and our reaction at going in 4-0 down at the break was very encouraging, and something to build on. We need to find answers as a unit, and solutions to our problems…”

This is taken from the instructions given from Hartlepool United….. to visiting Wigan Athletic fans for the Carling Cup Game
