Winning 2-1 ht and a great finish by Grant Holt ruled out for offside right on 45 mis.

I like the formation with Crainey playing right wing back and Jean Beau the left wing back. The two Maccas and Watson bossing midfield. Not sure what position Gomez is playing its sort of on the right but linking up with Crainey and Holt.

They may be a poor side, but it’s men against boys since the 2nd minute when their left winger blasted in an unstoppable shot off the cross bar.

Perch looks very calm at the back and likes to bring the ball out a la Alcarez.

All in all great first half, just hope this artificial pitch doesn’t cause any injuries, although it does look as realistic a plastic pitch I’ve seen.

4-1 to the tics goals from Holt and Gomez second half to add to Espinoza’s and Boycies in first.

Out of all the goals Holt’s pleased me the most. Proper poachers goal beating the defender to the ball to drive it past their keeper.

Disappointments? non really, perhaps energy levels dropped second half, but that was to be expected with all the work they have put in for 5 days, 3 games and scorching heat.

Things that pleased me; clinical finishing, Crainey’s ability to swap from right to left back.
The performance of Adam Buxton when he came on second half, full of confidence and drives forward linking up well with mid-fielders and forwards.

The fact that we still continue to pass the ball, but seem to get forward quicker.

the fact that every free kick is walloped into the box and we look a threat with the new boys and Boycie.

Great trip for the boys, I look forward to seeing them at LSV next Monday. :cheer:

Holt put a beauty away only for it to be dis-allowed, and how was that not a penalty when McManaman was taken out by the keeper?

Interesting comments, particularly in praise of Owen Coyle. He really does seem to be getting things right at the moment.

He is GL. I have to admit that I think our Premier League absence will be rather brief going off the squad we’re assembling.

It’s certainly all looking very positive, so far.

Lets get back to passing it across the back and no target man. Lol. Put your hand up if you think we’ll bog the fizzy pop league

Agree with jrfatfan about the movement being quicker. We seemed to get the crosses in much sooner, and more often, than last season and withn Holt on the end we surely must put a few away this season. Also like the way Watson banged the free kicks into the box instead of playing the ball back to the half way line. Thought Gomez (oops, sorry Gomez haters!) took his goal well. With his back to goal he turned his marker and put it into the bottom corner. Lets just hope this has set us up for a flyer when the season starts proper.

PS It would be good to do the double over the Mancs as well!!
